The tension in The base of a crumbling stone tower tightens for a beat as the interruption refuses to go away. Everyone is forced to stay quiet and choose their next move carefully.

Varrika

Varrika · Fighter

I shift my weight from foot to foot, eyeing the crumbling tower walls warily. The air is thick with an unnatural energy that makes my skin crawl. I can practically feel the weight of the wrongness pressing down on us. Halie's right - we shouldn't be messing around with whatever that is. But we're here now, and we've got a job to do. I tighten my grip on my mace, the worn wood smooth beneath my calloused fingers. Alright, listen up. Halie, keep your holy symbol at the ready. Jeane, see if you can't figure out what those runes are saying. Merrin, start feeling along the walls for any hidden doors or pressure plates. And Seraphine... well, I suppose you could try to levitate us all up the stairs, but something tells me that wouldn't end well. I step forward, my boots crunching on the debris-strewn floor. The sooner we find a way up this tower, the better. But we've got to be careful - one wrong move and we could bring the whole place down on our heads.

Jeane

Jeane · Sorcerer

I stare at the shifting runes for an extended moment, my wings twitching reflexively. The magic here feels wrong—fundamentally twisted in ways I've never encountered before. It's not just unnatural energy; whatever's in there... it knows we're here, and I doubt it's welcoming visitors. Careful, love—if the floor gives way under you, I won't be fast enough to catch you. I turn to Halie, her silver cross a comforting glow against the encroaching darkness. Can you identify what type of binding magic those are? Specifically—are they designed to contain or to control?

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

Merrin's eyes dart around the tower's base, her mind racing with possibilities as she considers their next move. The air feels thick with unnatural energy, and the very stones seem to pulse with malevolent intent. She can feel the weight of the others' gazes on her, waiting for her to take the lead. "Alright, listen up," Merrin says, her voice barely above a whisper. "We need to be smart about this. Varrika, Halie - you two keep your eyes peeled for any signs of undead guardians or dark sorcery. Jeane, I want you ready with that holy symbol in case things go sideways."

She pauses, her eyes scanning the tower walls for any hint of a hidden entrance. "As for me, I'm going to do what I do best - find us a way in without alerting whatever's lurking inside. Give me a few minutes to work my magic, and then we'll see about getting up that tower."

With that, Merrin starts to make her way along the base of the tower, her keen eyes searching for any sign of a hidden door or secret passage. The air grows colder with each step, and she can feel an unseen presence watching her every move. But she presses on, determined to find a way inside and retrieve the Time-Splitting Sword before it's too late. As she works, Merrin's mind churns with possibilities. She knows that this tower is likely to be filled with traps and obstacles, and that whatever guardians are waiting for them inside will be no pushovers. But she also knows that they can't afford to turn back now - the fate of the world may very well depend on their success. And so, with a deep breath and a silent prayer to whatever gods might be listening, Merrin continues her search, her fingers probing every crack and crevice in the ancient stone, hoping against hope that she'll find a way in before it's too late.
