The tension in The base of a crumbling stone tower tightens for a beat as the interruption refuses to go away. Everyone is forced to stay quiet and choose their next move carefully.

Jeane

Jeane · Sorcerer

I taste the wrongness here—fresh corruption clinging to ancient stone. Those runes aren't just decorative; they're feeding something. Avoiding them entirely is our wisest course. Halie, can you sense any safe passages? Varrika's found a door, but I'd rather not stumble into whatever's behind it blind.

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

Merrin's eyes dart around the crumbling stone tower, her hands twitching at her sides as she takes in every detail of the hidden door Varrika has uncovered. The air feels heavy with ancient magic and malice, making the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end. "Alright, let's see what we've got," Merrin mutters, stepping forward to examine the door more closely. She runs her fingers along the frame, feeling for any hidden mechanisms or traps. "Looks like it's been sealed up tight for a long time. Who knows what's waiting for us on the other side?"

Halie's words echo in Merrin's mind, warning of the fresh corruption that clings to the ancient stone. She feels a chill run down her spine at the thought of stumbling into whatever dark presence might be lurking behind those pulsing runes. "Jeane's right," Merrin says, nodding towards the sorcerer. "We should be careful about going in blind. Halie, can you sense any other ways up? I don't want to lead us straight into a trap."

She takes a deep breath, trying to steady her nerves as she readies herself for whatever may come. The tower looms above them, its crumbling stones seeming to writhe with contained malice. Merrin grips her crowbar tighter, knowing that they may need to fight their way through whatever horrors lie ahead. But even as fear gnaws at her insides, a part of her feels a thrill of excitement. This is what she lives for - the chance to pit her wits against the unknown and emerge victorious. With a final glance at her companions, Merrin steps forward to lead the way into the waiting darkness beyond the hidden door.

Varrika

Varrika · Fighter

Varrika tightens her grip on the mace, the weight of it a comforting presence in her weathered hands. Her eyes scan the hidden doorway, the air thick with ancient magic and the promise of danger beyond. She can feel the unease radiating from her companions, but there's no time for hesitation now. "Alright," she grunts, her gravelly voice barely above a whisper. "Let's see what's on the other side of this door." With a deep breath, she steps forward, the key turning in the lock with a heavy click that echoes through the crumbling stone tower. The door swings open, revealing a narrow staircase leading up into darkness, the air heavy with the scent of decay and something else... something malevolent. Varrika steps through, her mace at the ready, her senses on high alert. "Stay sharp," she warns over her shoulder. "We don't know what we might find."
