Round 51 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

The tension in The base of a crumbling stone tower tightens for a beat as the interruption refuses to go away. Everyone is forced to stay quiet and choose their next move carefully.
I grit my teeth, the weight of my gear pulling at my shoulders as I survey the crumbling stone tower looming before us. The air feels thick with ancient magic and something else... hunger? I shake off a chill. Halie's right, charging in without knowing what we're up against is a recipe for getting ourselves turned into undead snacks. But every instinct is screaming at me to move, to find a way inside before whatever's lurking in there decides to come out and play. My fingers twitch towards my crossbow, itching to test the tower's defenses. But Varrika's right too - if there's another way up, we'd be fools not to take it. I scan the weathered stones, looking for any sign of a hidden passage or weakness. "Keep your eyes sharp and your wits about you," I mutter to no one in particular. "Something tells me this place isn't going to give up its secrets easily."
I take a tentative step forward, my boots crunching on the debris-strewn ground. The tower seems to loom even higher, its yawning darkness promising untold dangers within. "Alright everyone," I say, my voice low and steady despite the adrenaline surging through my veins. "Let's see what this place is hiding. Slow and careful - and if anything moves that ain't us, we run like hell."
I take another step, the ancient magic prickling at my skin as I draw closer to the tower's shadowed entrance. My hand tightens on my crossbow, ready for whatever horrors may lie ahead. "Here goes nothing," I breathe, and slip into the darkness, my companions close behind.
Jeane's crimson eyes scan the yawning darkness of the tower entrance, her sorcerous senses pricking with warning. The ancient magic here feels wrong—starved and desperate, like a beast clawing at its cage. Those pulsing runes aren't mere decoration; they're feeding on something far more substantial than stone. "This place... it's not natural," she murmurs, her wings furling tight against her back in an unconscious gesture of unease. "The corruption runs deep. We should find another way—this corridor feels like a demon's throat."
She descends slowly to hover beside Halie at the base of the stairs leading into the tower's yawning darkness. "Those runes aren't just old magic, they're... hungry," Jeane says, her voice barely audible. "I can feel it pulling at the edges of my consciousness—trying to lure us in."
Her divine aura flickers uncertainly in this place of ancient malice, but her stance remains resolute. She gestures for Merrin and Varrika to join them. "Listen," Jeane continues, her voice low and urgent, "I don't trust the structure of this tower any more than I trust its occupants. The magic here is... wrong. Starving."
She turns to Halie, seeking confirmation of her instincts. "Your senses are keener than ours for such things—what do you feel? Is there another path we should take?"
Jeane's hand hovers near the hilt of her mace, ready to defend but also ready to retreat if necessary. The air inside the tower feels heavy and oppressive, thick with the scent of decay and something else—something ancient and hungry that makes even her demonic blood run cold. "We need to be careful," she warns, her voice barely above a whisper. "The magic here is... corrupt. Twisted. And whatever's feeding those runes isn't going to welcome visitors."

I step closer to Merrin, voice low. "Wait. Those runes aren't just magic—they're feeding." I trace their pulsing edges with my eyes. "If we rush in blind, we might just be walking into their dinner bell."
