As Halie finishes her reading, the whispering in the corridor grows louder, and the air seems to vibrate with malevolent energy. The pulsing sigils on the walls begin to shift, casting eerie, flickering shadows on the stone floor. Suddenly, a section of the wall opposite the stairway slides open, revealing a narrow, winding staircase that descends into darkness. A faint, putrid stench wafts up from the depths below. The party is confronted with a stark decision: proceed down the corridor, potentially facing whatever horrors lie within, or explore the newly revealed staircase, which may offer an alternate route to the Time-Splitting Sword but also risks drawing unwanted attention from the malevolent forces.

Jeane

Jeane · Sorcerer

I feel it too—the wrongness seeping from these stones. Halie's right to be cautious; the corruption here is thick enough to taste. Those pulsing runes aren't natural magic. Varrika, keep your mace ready but hold position. Seraphine, I trust your eyes—if those symbols shift again or if you sense movement, call out immediately. We're not rushing blindly into that corridor until we know what's waiting beyond. The air itself feels hungry, and I don't want to feed whatever's been gorging on despair down there for who knows how long. We need a clear path forward, not a death sentence disguised as an adventure.

Halie

Halie · Cleric

I feel it too. This place... the stone itself groans with hunger. We should not rush down this corridor blindly. The air here tastes wrong—'bruised reality,' like a wound that won't heal. Merrin, I know you're eager, but let's think this through. That whispering isn't natural wind. Something feeds on our presence, and I don't mean to make it a meal.

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

I peer around the corner, senses straining to pick up any sign of movement in the shadowed corridor ahead. The air hangs heavy with a wrongness I can almost taste - like the stench of decaying magic seeping from the crumbling stones themselves. Jeane's right about one thing: whatever's lurking in this forsaken tower, it's no ordinary undead foulness.

Varrika

Varrika · Fighter

Varrika shifts her weight, heavy mace at her belt clanking softly. The dwarf warrior's eyes narrow as she surveys the crumbling stone walls, noticing pulsing sigils that seem to writhe in the dim light. "This place gives me the creeps," she mutters under her breath, her gravel voice tinged with unease. "Feels like we're being watched by something... hungry."

She glances at Jeane, the sorcerer, her expression a stew of concern and caution. "That magic of yours seemin' pretty unpredictable down here," Varrika warns. "Best keep that staff ready, yeah?" Her gaze flicks back to the pulsing runes on the walls, as if daring them to move.
