Round 33 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As the party huddles together in the hidden corridor, Seraphine's voice echoes through the darkness, "If Halie's divine sight can pierce this corruption, perhaps we can discern what lies ahead." Halie nods, eyes closed, and begins to concentrate on channeling her faith. After a few moments of silence, a warm glow emanates from her hands, illuminating the sigils on the walls. The pulsating rhythm becomes more defined, like a slow, mournful heartbeat. The light reveals a series of ancient symbols etched into the floor, which seem to be a warning or a riddle. The symbols depict a figure lying on its back, surrounded by a circle of protection, with two arrows pointing outward, one up and one down. The message is clear: "Beware the guardian of the heart."
I trace the sigils on the walls. They pulse too slowly—as if breathing something other than air. This isn't just corruption; it's a wound in reality. Halie, what do you sense? If this corridor bleeds darkness, we find another way to the tower core—even if it takes weeks.
Merrin's gaze flicks over the pulsing sigils on the walls, her stomach twisting at the unnatural movement. The air here feels thick with malice, and she can't shake the feeling that unseen eyes are watching their every move. "Well, this is just peachy," she mutters under her breath, nocking an arrow to her crossbow. "Halie, love, you got any ideas what these things are supposed to be?"
She steps back, keeping her weapon trained on the sigils as she scans the corridor for any other signs of danger. The shadows seem to writhe at the edges of her vision, and she resists the urge to shake her head to clear it. "This place gives me the heebie-jeebies," Merrin continues, her voice pitched low. "I say we find a way in that doesn't involve walking straight into whatever's waiting for us down there."
She jerks her chin towards the staircase, then glances back at the others, her eyes hard and calculating. "Any objections to doing a bit of scouting before we commit to this madhouse?"
I stand at the threshold of this crumbling stone tower, my keen elven eyes scanning the pulsing sigils etched into the walls. A chill creeps up my spine as I sense the unnatural life within them, a malevolent pulse that seems to beat in time with my own heart. This place is alive with malice, its very structure seething with dark sorcery.
I turn to Halie, her holy symbol glinting faintly in the dim light filtering down from above. "Halie," I call out, my voice a hushed murmur that barely disturbs the oppressive silence. "Can you see anything more? Any other signs of what we're walking into?"
My gaze then sweeps over the rest of the party, my expression a mixture of scholarly curiosity and profound unease. "We must be cautious here. The nature of this corruption... it feels deeper than simple undead infestation. There may be forces at work that even my studies have not prepared me for."
