As Varrika takes a cautious step forward into the dimly lit corridor, her mace at the ready, the breathing symbols on the walls pulse with an eerie, demonic energy. The air grows thick with malevolence, and the countdown timer now reads 20 seconds. The torches cast flickering shadows on the walls, making it seem as though the darkness itself is moving. Suddenly, the unseen presence in the air surges, making it harder for the party to breathe and think clearly. Jeane's eyes widen as she struggles to maintain her focus, her voice barely above a whisper. "Halie, can you interpret these runes? We need to know what we're dealing with here!" The group's tension ratchets up as they wait for Halie's interpretation, the only sound the labored breathing and the distant creaking of old stone.

Jeane

Jeane · Sorcerer

I peer into the corridor's gloom, my sorcerous senses prickling. The breathing symbols on these walls—they're not mere arcane markings. They pulse with demonic intent, hungry and ancient. We're treading in cursed ground here. Stop, I command, voice sharp as a blade. Varikka freezes mid-step, mace raised. Merrin's hand tightens on her crossbow behind me. The air grows thick, clinging like unseen fingers. These symbols—Halie, can you interpret them? They're not natural magic. My wings twitch, instinct screaming warning. This corruption runs deep. We should find another route.

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

Merrin's eyes narrow as she peers into the dimly lit corridor, her grip on the crossbow tightening. The air feels thick and oppressive, clinging to her skin like a physical weight. Those runes on the walls...they're not natural. Demonic magic, dark and hungry, pulses from the breathing symbols etched into the stone. "Halie, keep an eye on those symbols," Merrin warns, her voice a hushed murmur. "See if you can figure out what they do. Jeane, keep your magic in check. We don't know what we're dealing with here, and I'd rather not attract any unwanted...attention."

She turns to Varrika, nodding towards the unknown depths of the corridor. "Varikka, you're our best bet for scouting ahead. Take point, but be careful. Whatever's down there, it's watching us."

Merrin takes a tentative step forward, her crossbow at the ready. The heavy presence in the air sends a shiver down her spine, but she forces herself to remain focused. They've come this far...they can't turn back now.

Seraphine

Seraphine · Wizard

The air grows thick with an unseen pressure, a malevolent presence that clings to my skin like a suffocating blanket as I stand at the threshold of the dimly lit corridor. My keen elven eyes strain against the gloom, trying to decipher the arcane runes etched into the stone walls. Each symbol pulses with a sickening, demonic rhythm, the breathing symbols glinting wetly in the torchlight.
The oppressive atmosphere makes my heart pound against my ribs, a frantic drumbeat warning of an impending threat. This isn't just dark magic; it's something ancient and hungry, a power that seeks to consume everything it touches. A shiver runs down my spine as I feel Varrika move forward, her heavy mace gripped tightly in her hands.
"I can feel it too," I murmur, my voice a low hiss as I watch the fighter take up her position at the front of our ragged group. The tension is palpable, a physical thing that presses down on us all. "Whatever lies ahead, it's no simple undead guard."

Varrika

Varrika · Fighter

I step into the corridor, mace at the ready. The air feels heavy, thick with an oppressive presence. Those breathing symbols on the walls - they're pulsing with a sickening rhythm, like some twisted heartbeat. I can feel it in my bones, this darkness. It's watching us, hunger in every glint. I raise a hand, signaling the party to halt. "Keep your wits about you," I growl. "Whatever's down here, it's no simple undead guard." My eyes dart to Halie. "Cleric, any insight on those runes? We need to know what we're walking into."

The sword may be in these depths, but so is something ancient and malevolent. And I'll be damned if I let it take another member of my crew. Not after everything we've been through. I take another step forward, muscles coiled tight. The mace feels solid in my grip, a familiar weight. But even with all my training, a chill runs down my spine. This isn't just any fight. This is a battle against forces I barely understand. Still, I press on. For the sword. For the mission. And for the lives of those behind me. "Stay sharp," I warn, voice low. "And stay close. We've got each other's backs. And we'll need them."

With that, I move forward into the shadows, ready to face whatever horrors lie ahead.
