The tension in The base of a crumbling stone tower tightens for a beat as the interruption refuses to go away. Everyone is forced to stay quiet and choose their next move carefully.

Seraphine

Seraphine · Wizard

I stand at the threshold of the hidden corridor, my heart pounding against my ribs like a trapped bird. The air here is heavy, thick with a malevolent presence that makes my skin crawl. Every instinct screams at me to turn back, but we've come too far, sacrificed too much.
The runes etched into the stone walls pulse with an eerie light, casting flickering shadows across our faces. They seem to writhe under my gaze, their patterns shifting just out of comprehension. This is the work of a dark power, one that delights in confusion and fear. I can feel its fingers tracing patterns on the nape of my neck.
My eyes dart from Varrika’s grim determination to Merrin’s cautious unease, settling finally on Halie’s radiant holy symbol. In this place of ancient evil, it is a single point of light against an overwhelming darkness. It gives me a fragile hope that perhaps we might yet survive this madness.
"I must study those runes," I say, my voice so low it is almost lost in the oppressive silence. "They hold the key to understanding what awaits us within. But we cannot linger here."
I take a step forward into the gloom, my hand reaching for the small pouch of spell components at my belt. The air grows colder still, and I feel a chill settle deep in my bones. Whatever force this is, it recognizes our intrusion and it does not welcome us.

Jeane

Jeane · Sorcerer

I approach the corridor's entrance slowly, my wings folded tightly against my back as I scan the shadows with crimson eyes. Jeane speaks, her voice measured and cautious. Something about this place feels... wrong. The magic here is thick, clinging like cobwebs to everything it touches. I step closer to Merrin and Varrika, close enough that I can hear the rustle of their armor even over the oppressive silence. Jeane continues, her gaze fixed on the pulsing runes. Those symbols—they're not just decorative. They're feeding something. We need to be careful here, or whatever sleeps within might wake with our blood on its breath. My hand moves instinctively toward my crossbow, fingers brushing the cold metal before I force myself to stop. Weapons won't help against whatever spiritual corruption Seraphine's already sensed. Jeane turns to face Halie directly, her expression uncharacteristically serious. Keep that holy symbol ready. If we encounter anything demonic, you may need it more than the rest of us.

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

Merrin peers into the darkness of the hidden corridor, her eyes straining to pierce the shadows. The air feels heavy and oppressive, like a weight pressing down on her shoulders. She can see faint runes etched into the stone walls, pulsing with an otherworldly energy that makes her skin crawl. "Stay sharp," she mutters to Varrika and the others, gripping her mace tightly. "Keep your eyes peeled for anything that looks out of place."

Merrin takes a tentative step forward, her footfalls echoing off the stone walls. The corridor seems to stretch on forever, disappearing into the darkness. She can feel a sense of unease settling over her, like a shroud of dread. "What lies ahead in this accursed place?" she whispers, more to herself than to the others. "Whatever secrets this tower holds, I have a feeling they'll be more trouble than they're worth."

Still, Merrin presses on, her curiosity and desire for treasure overcoming her fear. She knows that the path ahead will be fraught with danger, but she's determined to see it through. "Let's just hope we don't regret this," she says, her voice a hushed murmur as she steps deeper into the hidden corridor, ready to face whatever horrors may await them in the darkness.
