Round 2 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 2
The flickering candlelight casts eerie shadows upon the walls of the ruined border chapel's war room as the party members gather around a heavy wooden table. The air is thick with the scent of damp earth and decay, and the distant rumble of thunder echoes through the cracks in the stone walls.
The map of the tower's ground floor, partially torn and yellowed with age, lies spread out on the table. The Narrator, seated at the head of the table, gazes around the room, their eyes lingering on each member before beginning to speak.
"You've all been hired by the village elder to retrieve the Time-Splitting Sword from within the accursed tower, said to be guarded by undead horrors and dark sorcerers who will stop at nothing to protect their prize. The sword is not just a tool of power – it's a key to unlocking the very fabric of time itself. If we fail, not only will our world be lost to the darkness, but the timestream will unravel, plunging us all into an eternal night from which there will be no return."
The Narrator leans forward, their eyes burning with a fierce determination. "Our objective is to retrieve the Time-Splitting Sword and bring it back to the village elder. We must be prepared for the dangers that lie within the tower, including undead horrors and treacherous traps. Our success will depend on our ability to work together and utilize our unique skills and abilities."
A cold draft stirs through the room, carrying the faint whispers of forgotten prayers and ancient incantations on its breath. The Narrator's voice grows more intense.
"We must discuss the details of our plan. Who among us is willing to take on this perilous quest? What are our strengths and weaknesses, and how can we work together to succeed?"
The room falls silent as the party members regard one another, each lost in their own thoughts about the challenge ahead.
The Narrator's gaze lingers on each face, awaiting a response that will set the course for their journey into the heart of darkness.
Jeane's clawed finger taps a rhythm against the heavy wooden table as she considers her position. I will participate under two conditions: firstly, we have an escape plan in place should things go south within the tower – and 'south' is not just a figure of speech for me, it's very real. And secondly, any demonic entities we encounter are mine to deal with. My... unique talents allow for more effective negotiation or domination over such creatures.
I will participate.
I take a deep breath, steeling myself for what I'm about to say. Look, I'm the best lockbreaker and trap-disarmer in this group. If we're going into that death trap, we need someone with my skills at the forefront. I fix the Narrator with a hard stare. But I'm not doing this for free. The risk is too high, and the reward needs to be... substantial. I pause, letting the tension build. Double whatever you were planning to offer. That's my price. Take it or leave it.
I shift in my seat, my eyes still fixed on the map of the tower. The thought of what lies within those ancient walls sends a thrill through me, even as the risk makes my stomach churn. I will participate, but only if we have a comprehensive plan for dealing with the magical traps and wards that are likely to be in place. I look up, my gaze sweeping across the group. We'll need a combination of arcane knowledge, physical prowess, and stealth to navigate such a dangerous environment effectively. My voice is firm as I continue. And I must insist on being given access to all available research on the Time-Splitting Sword and its history before we enter the tower. Knowledge is our greatest weapon in this fight.
I clear my throat, the gravel in my voice matching the scarred state of my face. I'm in, for the right price. And make no mistake, it's going to be a high one. I gesture to my companions. This crew is top-notch, and we know our way around a fight. But we're not idiots either. I fix the Narrator with a hard stare. I want to know exactly what we're walking into. What's the layout of the tower? What kind of opposition are we likely to face? And most importantly, what's our exit strategy if things go sideways?
