She masks her nervousness with quick-witted jokes but remains wary of dark motives. Merrin's alert eyes dart between the glowing runes on the tower gate as she suggests trying different pressure points to open it.
In Merrin's own words
I'm Merrin Quickstep, a halfling rogue and scout. Born small but sharp, I learned quick that in this world, you gotta look out for yourself or else get trampled. My eyes are always darting, checking corners for traps and exits, ready to spot an opportunity when it flashes by. Don't let my jokes fool you though - I'm plenty nervous under this gallows humor. When the darkness presses too close, a laugh's the best way to keep your wits about you. So here we are at this tower gate, runes glowing like they're just waiting for us to poke 'em wrong and get zapped. But that's my job - find the path through, even if it means walking right up to danger with a wink and a nod. No telling what's behind there, but I'll bet my last gold piece there's something shiny worth finding in this cursed place. Let's see how these runes fit together like a puzzle box, shall we? Just don't go blaming me if the whole thing blows up in our faces.
