Round 70 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

Jeane unleashes a blast of magical energy from her crossbow, striking the guardian with incredible force. The creature stumbles backward, its shadow-servant momentarily halted in its pursuit of Varrika. However, the guardian quickly recovers, its eyes blazing with fury as it charges toward Jeane.
Jeane hovers above the chasm's edge, her dark wings beating slowly as she surveys the chaos below. That incompetent Halie has done it again—summoning a demon and endangering our entire quest! Her crimson eyes narrow with barely contained fury.
The ancient guardian circles menacingly, its shadow-servant still pursuing Varrika across the ledge. The subterranean river gurgles ominously below. Seraphine, hold that barrier! Merrin, find cover behind those stalagmites! She considers her options carefully, weighing each course of action against the risks.
We cannot afford to lose anyone else—not if we hope to retrieve the Time-Splitting Sword and escape this cursed tower. The guardian is too powerful for any of us alone. Jeane's gaze falls upon the writhing mass of shadows giving chase to Varrika. That servant creature moves with unnatural speed—likely an extension of the guardian itself. A direct confrontation would be suicide without proper preparation. Her hand moves to her crossbow, fingers tracing the cold metal with familiarity. And that abomination Halie conjured! Useless at best, actively hostile at worst. We can't rely on it for anything but chaos. Jeane's attention shifts to the writhing mass of shadows below—Halie's demon materializing beside Merrin, its eyes glowing an eerie red as it stalks towards the guardian. What fresh hell is this? That incompetent summoner has unleashed something truly vile upon us now. We need to contain or banish that thing before it turns on us all! Her gaze narrows as she focuses on Halie's demon, assessing its form and energy signature from above. Its aura pulses with chaotic arcane energy—likely a low-level fiend summoned without proper control or binding rituals. Such creatures are notoriously unstable, prone to rampaging or betrayal. The chamber shudders violently as more stone gives way overhead. Time is running out. We must act now or face being buried alive—or worse, at the guardian's mercy. Jeane's hand moves to her crossbow, fingers tracing the cold metal with familiarity.
Very well then. If brute force won't solve this problem, perhaps a different kind of power will have to suffice...
I watch in horror as Jeane unleashes a blast of magical energy from her crossbow, striking the guardian with incredible force. The creature stumbles backward, its shadow-servant momentarily halted in its pursuit of Varrika. However, the guardian quickly recovers, its eyes blazing with fury as it charges toward Jeane. The air crackles with power as the two ancient beings clash overhead, their forms silhouetted against the flickering torches lining the chamber walls.
My heart hammers against my ribs as I see the writhing mass of shadows below—Halie's demon materializing beside Merrin, its eyes glowing an eerie red as it stalks towards the guardian. The sight sends a chill down my spine, a cold dread washing over me. That incompetent summoner has unleashed something truly vile upon us now. We need to contain or banish that thing before it turns on us all!
The chamber shudders violently as more stone gives way overhead, sending a cascade of dust and debris raining down upon the trapped members of our party. I can hear Merrin's desperate cry for Varrika to wake up, her voice lost amidst the roaring river and the snarling of the guardian. My gaze darts around the space, searching for an escape route, a weakness in the guardian's defenses, anything that might give us an edge. But all I see are more stalactites ready to fall and the relentless advance of the shadow creature that seems to have sprung from the very darkness itself.
I know I should be focusing on the demon, on finding a way to control or banish it before it causes more harm. But my mind keeps returning to Varrika, lying so vulnerable on the cold stone ground. She is our mission’s greatest asset, the key to unraveling the secrets of this place. And she is my friend, someone I have sworn to protect with all the power at my command.
I feel a surge of determination course through me. This is no time for hesitation or doubt. We are in the heart of darkness now, and we must fight our way out or be consumed by it completely.
"I will not let them take you," I mutter, my voice rising above the din. I begin to weave a new spell, one designed to disrupt the guardian's focus and give Merrin a chance to get Varrika to safety. It's a desperate gambit, but in this moment of sheer chaos, desperation feels like our only ally.
I feel the magic gathering around me, a low hum that builds in my chest until it feels ready to burst forth. I take a deep breath, steadying myself as best I can amidst the trembling floor and roaring river. Then, with a final, silent prayer to any god who might be listening, I release the spell into the world, watching as a brilliant flare of blue light explodes outward from my hands, seeking the heart of the ancient guardian's power.
Let this be enough. Let this buy us the time we need. Because if we fail here, in this moment, then all of our efforts have been for nothing. The Time-Splitting Sword will remain lost, and we will die not as heroes, but as forgotten souls trapped forever in the darkness of this accursed place.
