The air grew thick with an ancient, malevolent energy that made the very hairs on Seraphine's arms stand on end. Varrika's scream echoed in her mind, a chilling reminder of the danger they now faced. She took a step back from the edge of the abyss, fear coiling in her gut as the sound of scuttling grew louder still.

Jeane was already moving, her crimson wings unfurling with a soft rustle. The tall succubus paced the edge of the abyss, her expression one of grim determination mixed with obvious concern for Merrin and Varrika. We cannot wait any longer, the sorcerer said, her voice steady despite the tension in her shoulders. Halie, can you sense anything—any magical signature, any sign of life? If not, we need to assume the worst.

Seraphine hesitated, her fingers twitching as she considered the risks. The dark magic emanating from below was unlike anything she'd encountered before—raw, ancient, and utterly hostile. A light source... yes, I can manage that, she replied slowly. But it won't be easy to control the power without drawing attention from whatever's down there.

She began to weave a spell, her hands moving in intricate patterns as she channeled her arcane energy. A soft blue glow formed between her palms, growing brighter with each passing second. This should give us some visibility without revealing our exact positions, she explained, but be warned—any sudden movements or loud noises could disrupt the spell and make us visible to whatever's below.

As she finished casting, a sphere of shimmering blue light floated up from her hands, hovering at chest height and casting eerie shadows across their faces. Now then, Seraphine said, her voice tight with controlled fear, what's our next move? We can't just stand here waiting for something to crawl up out of that hole.
