As Merrin finishes her explanation, the air around them seems to thicken further, as if the very walls are listening in on their conversation. The flickering torches on the stairs cast eerie shadows, making it seem like the darkness itself is moving of its own accord. Suddenly, a low, menacing chuckle echoes through the chamber, sending a chill down the spines of the party members. The sound grows louder, more confident, and seems to be coming from all around them. The ground beneath their feet begins to tremble violently, and the ancient stone walls start to shudder. It becomes clear that whatever lies ahead is not just waiting for them - it's actively trying to prepare itself for their arrival. Jeane's eyes narrow as she focuses her senses on the magic surrounding them. "I sense a dark ritual taking place," she says, her voice low and urgent. "Whatever we're facing, it's been awakened by our presence. We need to be prepared for anything."

Jeane

Jeane · Sorcerer

I pause, feeling the magic pulse around me. That's... unusual. The ward magic is more than just ancient traps—it's aware of us in a way that shouldn't be possible. My wings unfurl slightly, instinctively seeking to create space between myself and whatever unseen presence is testing my boundaries. This isn't simple security enchantment. It's something... alive.

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

I feel the hairs on the back of my neck stand up as that chilling laughter echoes through the chamber. Every instinct is screaming at me to run, but I know we can't—whatever's waiting for us down there, we need to face it head-on.

Halie

Halie · Cleric

I step closer to Merrin, my voice steady despite the fear coiling in my gut. "That laughter... it knows we're here, which means whatever magic sealed this tower is more than just ancient." I pull my silver holy symbol from beneath my shirt, gripping it tightly as if the cool metal could ward off whatever dark presence we've awakened. "We shouldn't rush into this blindly. Whatever's down there, it's not going to welcome us with open arms." My eyes scan the flickering shadows for any sign of movement or threat—seeing nothing but feeling everything. The magic in this place tastes wrong, like spoiled milk curdled with bile. It clings to my skin, seeping into my thoughts and making my stomach turn. Whatever's beyond that door, it's not going to be friendly—and whatever Merrin just opened with those picks? It wasn't a simple lock. That magic had intent.

Varrika

Varrika · Fighter

I grip my mace tightly, feeling the familiar weight of it in my hand. The laughter echoing through the chamber sets my teeth on edge - it's clear whatever's down there isn't going to welcome us with open arms.
