Phase: converging

Varrika's scarred face hardens into a mask of grim determination as she grips her mace tighter, the cold metal a familiar comfort in this rapidly unraveling reality. Wrong. Dead wrong. Her voice is a low growl that echoes through the shifting stone corridor. This thing ain't no guardian—it's something else entirely. Something that feeds on our fear and desperation.
She steps forward, her dwarf nature making her seem even more solid and real compared to their wavering forms. You hear that, Halie? The rules are breaking because we're dealing with something that shouldn't exist in this world. Her eyes narrow as she studies the flickering entity. A paradox made manifest—two for the price of one. That's not a negotiation, it's a fucking equation.
Varrika's mind races, trying to piece together what little they know about ancient magic and dimensional crossroads. An offering? A sacrifice? Bullshit. She spits on the ground, her gaze never leaving the entity. We don't barter with demons or whatever the hell you are. We fight. And right now, fighting this… thing… means not playing its games.
She turns to Jeane and Halie, her voice dropping to a more urgent tone. Whatever happens next, we stick together. Don't let it separate us—that's what it wants. Her free hand clenches into a fist. We've come too far to fall for some cosmic mind-fuck now.
Varrika's fingers tighten around the mace handle, feeling the familiar weight and balance. She knows her strength is real, solid, undeniable—unlike the shifting reality around them. If this thing wants a sacrifice… She pauses, an idea forming. …maybe we give it one. Not us—not each other. But something else.
Her eyes scan the corridor, landing on a loose stone in the wall. That rock there. She points with her free hand. We break it apart—together—and offer the pieces to… whatever the fuck this is. Show it that we won't be manipulated, that we'll destroy before we're destroyed.
Varrika moves towards the stone without waiting for agreement, her boots echoing solidly on the ground. Who's with me? She looks back at Jeane and Halie, her expression a mix of fierce determination and quiet desperation. We break this thing's hold one piece at a time if we have to.
Jeane's crimson eyes flash with understanding as she watches Varrika's plan unfold. Clever dwarf. Her voice carries both admiration and barely contained rage. You're right—this entity thinks it can play us like a fiddle, but we're not the ones dancing here.
She moves to stand beside Varrika, her wings unfurling slightly in a show of power. I'll help you break that stone, but while we're at it… Jeane's staff begins to glow with arcane energy, casting eerie shadows across the corridor. …I'm going to test something.
With a swift motion, Jeane casts a spell—an arcane bolt of pure force aimed not at the entity, but at the very fabric of reality around them. The air crackles with power as the bolt strikes an invisible barrier, causing it to ripple like water.
Her eyes narrow in satisfaction. See that? The barrier's thin here—weak. Jeane turns to Halie, her voice urgent. Whatever this thing is, it's not fully manifest yet. We can break its connection to this reality if we hit it hard enough.
Jeane moves closer to the stone wall, her staff glowing brighter. Focus your energy on breaking that stone, Varrika. I'll channel my magic into supporting you—let's show this entity what happens when it messes with the wrong party.
Halie clutches her cross tighter, the silver metal seeming to pulse with her racing heartbeat. Fucking hell. Her voice is shaky but determined as she moves forward, the holy symbol held out before her like a shield. Okay, okay. I get it now—this thing wants us divided, weakened. Fine.
She positions herself next to Varrika and Jeane, her blue-grey eyes fixed on the loose stone. You two hit that rock with everything you've got—I'll use my faith to… to what? Halie's brow furrows in concentration as she tries to think of a way to contribute. To… amplify your efforts?
Suddenly, inspiration strikes. Halie presses her cross against the stone wall, right next to where Varrika intends to strike. Divine energy for divine purpose—let my faith reinforce your blows! She closes her eyes, mumbling a quick prayer under her breath.
A soft golden glow emanates from the silver cross, spreading across the stone surface. Halie's voice rises as she speaks louder now. By the light of the goddess, let our united strength shatter this barrier between worlds!
She opens her eyes, the blue-grey orbs blazing with renewed conviction. Let's show this entity what happens when it messes with three very pissed-off women!
The gaunt figure recoils slightly as Jeane's arcane bolt strikes the invisible barrier, its form flickering and losing cohesion. The entity's voice echoes through the corridor, a mixture of surprise and growing anger. You dare… defy the natural order? Its words seem to come from multiple places at once, a discordant chorus of rage.
As Varrika, Jeane, and Halie focus their combined energy on the stone wall, cracks begin to appear. The loose rock groans under the pressure, dust and fragments flying outward as the barrier between dimensions begins to weaken.
The air around them shimmers and distorts, reality bending and warping at their assault. The corridor itself seems to twist and contort, the stonework melting like wax before hardening again.
Just as they think the wall might give way completely, a massive crack splits through the stone. With a sound like thunder, the barrier shatters outward in a explosion of magical energy. The released power washes over them in a wave of pure force, knocking all three women backward.
As the dust settles and their vision clears, they see that the corridor has changed dramatically. The stonework is now fractured and unstable, large chunks missing as if torn away by some immense force. In the newly created gap, they catch glimpses of a realm beyond—a place of swirling chaos and raw magical energy.
The entity is gone, its presence evaporated with the breaking of the barrier. But in its absence, something else begins to emerge from the rift—the same growing malevolence they sensed before, now much stronger and more focused.
From the depths of the tear between worlds comes a low, rumbling growl that shakes the very foundations of the tower. Whatever lies beyond that breach, it's responding to their actions—and it doesn't sound friendly.
