The air inside the labyrinth shimmered like heat-haze, every surface seeming to pulse with an inner light that made Merrin's head ache. The Keeper of Time materialized before them—a tall woman in flowing robes that seemed to defy gravity, her skin the color of polished obsidian, her eyes burning with starlight. "The first trial is one of synchronization," she intoned, her voice resonating through the very stone around them. "Weaver of Fates will require you to perform a symphony of moments, aligning your essence with the cosmic rhythm." She gestured toward a large crystal sphere suspended in mid-air, its surface swirling with impossible geometries that made Merrin's eyes water if she stared too long.
Merrin felt the hum of the orb resonating through her body, setting her teeth on edge. This trial felt different from the others—more ethereal, more abstract. Like they were being asked to align themselves with the fundamental forces that shaped reality itself. Her gaze darted between Jeane and Seraphine, a silent communication passing between them. They'd faced impossible odds before, but this... this felt like they were dancing on the edge of a razor, one wrong step away from unraveling the very fabric of their existence.
Jeane stared at the crystalline orb pulsing before them, its surface a swirl of geometries that seemed to defy the laws of space-time. This is beyond dangerous—this is reality-bending territory, she thought, trying to sort through the implications. The humming energy made her teeth ache and her wings twitch with barely contained panic. She could feel it—the raw temporal power coiling around them like a serpent preparing to strike. We need to understand this 'synchronization' before we attempt it, she thought, already calculating potential spells and defensive wards in her mind.
The Keeper of Time's voice echoed through the chamber once more: "Begin when you are ready. The tower's collapse grows nearer with each passing moment."
