Round 220 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As we stand on the black stone platform, surrounded by swirling vortexes of elemental energy, the disembodied voice booms again, "Your challenge is simple: channel the energy of each element into the Focus Stone without losing control." The air crackles with electricity, and the earth trembles beneath our feet. Jeane's eyes scan the platform, her hand instinctively going to the hilt of her crossbow. "We need to figure out how to do this fast," she says, her voice urgent. "I don't know how long this place will hold before we get swept away by the storm."
Seraphine turns to me, her expression serious. "What do you think? Can we work together to channel these energies?" I glance at the rune-carved stone in the center of the platform, its surface etched with ancient symbols that seem to pulse with a life of their own. Suddenly, the winds die down, and an eerie silence falls over the platform. The Focus Stone begins to glow with an intense, pulsing light, as if it's waiting for us to make our move.
I step closer to Seraphine, my wings beating slowly for balance on this trembling platform. The wind whips around us, carrying with it the scent of ozone and something else—something ancient and powerful that raises the fine hair on my arms. "I've worked with elemental magic before," I say, my voice barely audible over the groaning of the earth beneath our feet. "But never like this." My eyes scan the swirling vortexes surrounding us, each one pulsing with raw energy that seems to call out to something primal within me. The focus stone at the center of the platform catches my attention—its runes glow with an inner fire, promising power but also demanding control. "We need to approach this methodically," I continue, trying to project more confidence than I feel. "First, we establish a binding circle around the stone—a foundation for channeling. Then we tackle each element one by one." My hands move almost unconsciously into the starting formation of a standard elemental binding spell, fingers tracing arcane sigils in the air. "But here's the problem," I say, my voice dropping to a near-whisper as I look around at the storm raging around us. "This isn't controlled laboratory magic. These elements are wild and untamed—what happens if we lose control of even one? The feedback could destroy the circle and send that energy straight back at us." My wings twitch involuntarily, betraying my anxiety despite my attempts to maintain composure. "We need you to stabilize the structure," I tell Seraphine, meeting her eyes. "Your skills with structural magic might be what keeps this platform from collapsing while we work on the elements." I pause for a moment before adding, "And if something goes wrong—if one of us starts to lose control—I need you to pull back immediately and focus on defense instead."
My fingers complete the first part of the binding sigil, the magic crackling between my fingertips. The runes on the stone pulse in response, as if sensing our intentions. "Because I don't think we'll get a second chance at this," I finish grimly. As I begin weaving the next sigil in the sequence, I feel the power of the wind element calling to me—a primal, wild energy that wants nothing more than to be unleashed upon the world. The question is whether I can harness it without letting it consume us both.
I listen intently to Jeane's plan, my eyes fixed on the swirling vortexes around us. The raw power radiating from them is unlike anything I've ever encountered in my studies—they pulse with a life of their own, seeming to twist and writhe with every passing second. "A binding circle," I repeat, nodding slowly as I absorb the information. "That makes sense. We'll need something to ground us, especially with such untamed elements."
My gaze drifts towards the rune-carved stone in the center of the platform—the Focus Stone. It seems to be the key to everything here, the nexus point for whatever magic is holding this entire trial together. "And you want me to stabilize the structure," I say, my voice carrying a note of determination beneath the fear that still courses through me. "I can do that. Structural magic is one of my stronger areas of expertise."
I take a deep breath, feeling the cold air fill my lungs. The thought of trying to hold this platform together while Jeane works on the elements is daunting, but it’s a task I know I have to take on. "But what about the other elements? You mentioned tackling them one by one, but what if we can’t control them all?" I ask, voicing the concern that has been gnawing at the back of my mind since we stepped onto this platform. The memory of our last encounter with a reflection is still fresh—how quickly things had spiraled out of control then.
My hands move instinctively, tracing the beginnings of a stabilizing spell in the air before me. The magic feels weak and uncertain in the face of such overwhelming power, but I push forward. "And what if one of us starts to lose control? You think pulling back will be enough?" I look at Jeane, my expression showing both determination and worry. "The elements here seem... different. More volatile than anything we've faced before. Are you sure you can handle that much raw energy?"
As I speak, the wind element whips around us with increasing force, sending sparks of electricity crackling through the air. The earth beneath our feet trembles violently, and a deep rumble builds in the distance, like a distant thunderclap. "We need to start now," I say urgently, my eyes darting between the vortexes and the Focus Stone. "Before this whole trial collapses on top of us."
I take another step towards the center of the platform, where the stone lies waiting. The runes on its surface seem to pulse in time with my heartbeat, a silent call to action. "Tell me exactly what you need me to do," *I say to Jeane, my voice steady despite the fear that grips me. "Every detail matters here. And if... if something does go wrong, I promise I'll do everything in my power to get us out of this alive."
