As Halie holds the rope, Varrika carefully lowers herself down into the darkness below, her hand on the hilt of her sword. The dwarf warrior's eyes adjust to the dim light, and she spots Jeane sitting amidst a pile of dusty old books, her back against the wall. Jeane looks up, wincing in pain as she assesses her injuries. Suddenly, the books on the pile begin to shift, as if stirred by an unseen force. The whispering in the chamber grows louder, and the air seems to thicken with malevolent energy. The symbol on the ground flashes brighter, casting an eerie glow over the scene. Jeane's eyes widen in alarm as she realizes that the books are slowly rising into the air, forming a macabre pyramid around her. Halie's voice is tight with tension as she calls out to Varrika, "We need to act fast! The symbol is going to flash again, and we don't know what that means!"

My heart hammers in my chest as I watch Varrika descend into the darkness below, her form disappearing into the shadows. Merrin, what do you see? Is Jeane hurt? I call out, my voice strained with concern. The catwalk creaks ominously beneath my feet, and I instinctively take a step back, my eyes darting to the ominous doorway ahead. The pulsing light from the symbol on the ground seems to be growing brighter, more insistent, and the whispers in the chamber rise to a frantic pitch. We have to do something! That light... it's going to flash again, and we don't know what that means! I take another step back, my hand instinctively moving to my holy symbol, as if the blessed metal could ward off whatever ancient evil was at work here.
I turn to face Merrin, my expression urgent. Merrin, listen! If that light flashes again, it might be some kind of trap or a signal to whatever dark powers are watching us. We can't afford to let our guard down for even a moment. My gaze shifts back to the catwalk beneath our feet, and I feel a fresh wave of unease wash over me. And this whole damn structure... it feels like it's coming apart around us. What if we get trapped in here with whatever is waiting for us? The thought sends a chill down my spine, and I hug myself tightly, trying to ward off the sudden cold that seems to have seeped into my bones.
I move closer to Merrin, lowering my voice to a near whisper. We need to think this through. If Jeane is injured, we have to get her out of there, but if she isn't... maybe it's better if we all stay up here for now. My eyes dart to the doorway again, and I feel a growing sense of unease. Whatever is in that room—it knows we're here. And it seems like it wants us to come to it. I take a deep breath, trying to calm my racing thoughts. So what do you think we should do? Do we try to rescue Jeane now, or do we wait and see if this is some kind of test? The question hangs in the air between us, heavy with the weight of our uncertain situation.
