Jeane moves forward cautiously, her crimson eyes fixed on the glowing symbol. This magic... it's ancient and powerful. We should proceed with extreme caution.

Seraphine nods in agreement, her sharp gaze scanning the chamber for any signs of threat. Indeed. The energy here is unlike anything I've encountered before. We must be prepared for whatever lies beyond that door.

The whispering grows louder, a chorus of spectral voices seeming to emanate from the very stone itself.

Jeane's wings shift nervously as she listens. Those aren't the voices of the innocent. Something terrible happened here long ago.

Seraphine approaches the doorway, her curiosity warring with her caution. The binding magic is complex... and dark. But it may hold the key to freeing Merrin if we can unravel it.

The symbol on the ground pulses brighter as Seraphine draws near, tendrils of shadow seeming to reach out from its edges.

Jeane grabs Seraphine's arm, pulling her back. Careful! That magic is unstable. We don't know what releasing even a fraction of it might do.

Seraphine's eyes widen as she realizes the danger, but her academic curiosity remains undimmed. You're right... but think of the knowledge we could gain. The spells used here are unlike anything in modern texts...

The whispering intensifies, the voices growing clearer and more insistent.

Jeane grits her teeth, conflicted by the need to rescue Merrin and the potential dangers of unleashing ancient evils. We can't just leave Merrin... but we can't risk releasing something that might destroy us all.

Seraphine's expression hardens with determination. Then we must find a way to break the binding without shattering the entire containment. A delicate operation, to be sure...

The stone door groans again, as if responding to their debate.

Jeane nods slowly. Agreed. We'll need to work together carefully if we're to succeed. But first... She glances back at the precarious catwalk they traversed. We should secure a safe retreat route. If things go wrong, we'll need an escape path.

Seraphine's lips quirk in a small smile despite the gravity of their situation. Ever the pragmatist, aren't you? Very well. Let's ensure our exit strategy is as solid as the ground beneath our feet...

The whispering fades slightly as they turn their attention to the catwalk, the ancient magic seeming to recede for now.

Jeane begins a careful examination of the stone supports and floor, her sorcerer's knowledge guiding her hands. The structure seems stable enough... but this section here... She points to a cracked area near the edge. This could be trouble if we're not careful.

Seraphine moves to assist, her elven eyes keen as she studies the stonework. Fascinating... the builders used a combination of normal masonry and arcane reinforcement spells. Clever, but perhaps overambitious...

The two work together to strengthen the catwalk where needed, their combined skills ensuring a safer path back if necessary.

As they finish their preparations, the whispering grows louder once more, a reminder of the dark secrets that await beyond the door.
