Round 38 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

The tension in The base of a crumbling stone tower tightens for a beat as the interruption refuses to go away. Everyone is forced to stay quiet and choose their next move carefully.
I grip my mace tighter as the ground rumbles beneath us, the ancient door creaking open with a sound like the earth itself groaning in pain. The wards around us hum with energy, but I can feel the weight of the darkness pressing against them, testing their strength. Halie's right—this isn't just some dusty old tower anymore. I turn to face the party, my eyes narrowing as I take in each of their faces. We've crossed a line here, and there's no going back. My gaze lingers on Jeane for a moment, seeing the fierce determination in her red eyes. You lead us into this mess, sorceress. So let's see if that demonic knowledge of yours can get us out of it. I turn to Halie next, my voice softening slightly as I speak to the priest. Halie... I know this isn't easy for you. But we need your faith now more than ever. Whatever dark magic we're about to face in there, your light could be what keeps us grounded. I take a deep breath, steeling myself for whatever horrors might lie beyond that ancient door. Merrin's right too—we need to be ready for anything in there. And that means trusting each other, watching each other's backs, and being ready to adapt on the fly. I meet Merrin's eyes, seeing the same fierce determination in her gaze that I feel burning in my own heart.
Finally, I turn to Seraphine, the leader of our little band of misfits. Seraphine... I know you're worried about us. But we've faced worse things before, and we'll face them again. Together. I clasp a hand on her shoulder, feeling the tension in her muscles beneath my touch. We're all here for different reasons, but right now, we're bound together by this quest. And that means we face whatever's in there as one. With that, I step forward, my mace raised and ready to smash whatever threatens us on the other side of that ancient door. Alright then... I nod towards the doorway, my eyes fixed on the swirling darkness beyond. Who's ready to face our darkness? I take a deep breath, feeling the weight of my armor and the strength of my companions around me. Whatever lies ahead in this tower, we'll face it together. And may the gods help whatever tries to stand in our way.
Jeane pauses for a moment, her crimson eyes flickering as she processes the information from the memory retrieval. Her expression shifts subtly—something about that catwalk over the chasm seems to have triggered an uneasy recognition. The structural integrity of this tower is... She trails off, glancing around at the ancient stonework with newfound suspicion.
Her voice drops lower as she continues, I've felt it too—the moral weight of what we're doing here. Releasing ancient evils into the world isn't something to take lightly. But... Jeane's gaze locks onto Varrika's, her red eyes intense and calculating. If what Elric said is true, those spirits were bound unjustly by dark sorcerers. And if Merrin's tactical judgment is anything like I remember it, then we need her agility more than ever in this kind of unstable terrain. She turns to face Halie next, her expression softening slightly. As for your spiritual insight, priest—we'll need every bit of it. This tower pulses with dark energy, and whatever test awaits us beyond that door... Jeane gestures towards the ominous portal, ...it's going to push our buttons in ways we can't even imagine yet. Jeane takes a deep breath, her wings shifting slightly as she centers herself. But we're not here for a tea party or a sightseeing tour. We have a quest—a purpose—and I for one intend to see it through. Her voice grows stronger now, filled with the fierce determination that's earned her the respect of even the most hardened adventurers. So yes, we'll be cautious. Yes, we'll stay together and watch each other's backs. But make no mistake—we're walking into that room with our eyes open and our blades ready. Whatever demonic trials they throw at us, we face them as one.
