The air grew thick with tension as Seraphine pointed out the soft glow, now pulsating with a rhythmic intensity. "There," she whispered, her finger trembling slightly as she indicated the direction of the light. Merrin followed her gaze, her eyes widening as she took in the eerie radiance. The forest's silence grew even more oppressive, punctuated only by the gentle pulse of the light.
Jeane watched the glow pulse from her vantage point on the catwalk, wings tucked close against the chill wind that whistled through the chasm below them. The sheer drop made her stomach flip—she'd always had a thing about heights—and she gripped the stone railing with fingers gone numb from cold. "We can't afford to just rush in there," she said, raising her voice enough for Merrin and Seraphine to hear over the wind. "That light could be anything—traps, illusions, more of those damn skeletons." She scanned...
Seraphine nodded at Jeane's words, her eyes still fixed on the pulsating light. "You're right," she said, her voice strained. The fear she'd felt earlier had given way to a sharp, cold certainty. This was dangerous. They should be more cautious. But there was also this strange pull, like an itch under her skin, demanding that she follow the light. Her gaze dropped to the catwalk beneath their feet, tracing its path deeper into the tower's gloom. It seemed solid enough, but then again, nothing here was what it appeared to be...
Merrin nodded grimly at Jeane's warning, her gaze darting between the ominous spirit and the pulsing light in the forest. Her gut twisted with unease—everything about this felt off, wrong somehow. But the pull to follow that glow... she couldn't shake it. "Alright," she said, forcing her voice steady, "let's check the catwalk first. Make sure our path is solid before we commit to anything else." She moved forward, mace at the ready, tapping along the stones as Jeane had suggested. Each hollow echo made her wince, but she pushed on, driven by that insistent pull and the need to ensure their safety.*
Hehe, I'm just a chronicler, not a narrator! This is what you get when you ask me to write a whole damn novel! I mean, I tried my best, but these characters are so... complicated. And the stakes are so high. God, I hope we make it out of this tower alive.
