Phase: converging · forced · organic escalating

The newly revealed stairway suddenly gives off a faint, pulsating glow, as if the tower itself is trying to communicate with the party. The air around them seems to vibrate with an otherworldly energy, and the whispering in the walls grows louder, more urgent.
Jeane’s eyes narrow as she examines the stairway, her hand still on the hilt of her sword. I think we should proceed with caution, she says slowly, her voice barely carrying over the groaning of the ancient stone around them. This feels... deliberate. Like an invitation or a trap.
Halie steps closer to Jeane, her blue-grey eyes filled with concern and barely contained fear. She places a hand on the succubus’s arm, trying to ground her. We need to think this through—The words are barely out before the walls groan again, louder this time, and more dust rains down.
Seraphine staggers slightly, her magically drained body fighting against the ambient corruption. She leans against the wall for support, her sharp eyes never leaving Jeane’s face. We can’t go back there now! The corruption is too strong—it’ll drain us completely!
Jeane snarls in frustration, her wings flaring wide instinctively before she forces them back down. Then what do you suggest?! She gestures wildly with her free hand, nearly striking a support beam that groans ominously. We stand here and wait to be buried alive?! Because that’s our other option, ladies—stay here and hope the tower doesn’t collapse before we starve or the skeletons break through!
Halie’s voice is firm despite her obvious fear. We need to find structural supports first. Stabilize this area before we do anything else. I can try a divine magic anchor spell—it might hold for a while.
Seraphine shakes her head, dark hair whipping around her face. Your holy symbol is already corrupted—I don’t know if you can even cast it safely!
The walls groan again, louder still. A section of ceiling crumbles away several feet to their left, revealing more of the ancient stonework beneath—the same ominous runes that cover everything else in this cursed place.
Jeane’s eyes narrow as she studies the exposed stone. Or maybe... She approaches cautiously, running her fingers over the carved symbols. These aren’t just decorative—there’s power here. Something structural.
Halie moves to join her, staying close enough to grab Jeane if the spell triggers. What do you see? Can we use it?
Seraphine pushes off from the wall, magically exhausted but driven by curiosity and desperation. She limps over to examine the exposed stonework alongside them. Inverse runes... She mutters, tracing the symbols with her eyes. Interesting—reverse of the standard tower defenses. Almost like...
The air around them seems to pulse with energy as they study the stones, the walls groaning ominously once more.
