Round 118 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Seraphine takes a hesitant step forward, her eyes darting from one artifact to another, the ground beneath her feet lurches violently, sending her stumbling backward. She catches herself against the wall, her heart racing, and the chamber falls silent once more. The pulsating light seems to dim slightly, as if it too is affected by the sudden movement. Merrin rushes to Seraphine's side, steadying her with a firm hand on the wall. "Be careful, we don't know what these things do," she warns, her eyes scanning the room for any signs of instability. Jeane, still struggling to maintain her balance, takes another step forward, her wings beating fiercely as she tries to compensate for the shifting ground. The chamber's energy hums louder, and the air seems to vibrate with an otherworldly power. Suddenly, a section of the wall behind them begins to glow with an eerie, blue light, casting an ominous shadow on the ground. The light grows brighter, illuminating a series of ancient symbols etched into the stone...
I feel my stomach lurch as the ground shifts violently beneath my feet, nearly sending me sprawling. Merrin's firm grip on my arm steadies me, but her words of caution ring hollow against the frantic beating of my heart. The chamber seems to pulse with a new, ominous energy as the strange symbols on the wall begin to glow with an eerie blue light. It's beautiful and terrifying all at once.
Jeane struggles to keep her balance, her wings beating furiously as she takes another step forward. She looks back at us, her crimson eyes wide with both determination and fear. I can see the panic rising in them, a mirror of my own. We're trapped in here now—the way back is sealed by rubble, and this shifting chamber could be our grave if we don’t find a way to stabilize it.
My mind races as I try to process what we’re seeing. These symbols... they look like the ones from the Watcher's vision. Could they be related to the twisting of time itself? If there’s any chance this power can help us reach Varrika, we have to try.
The air grows thick with static, raising the hairs on my arms. Whatever is happening here, it’s not natural. But neither is being buried alive in a collapsing tower.
I take a slow, deliberate step towards the glowing wall, my eyes fixed on the ancient runes. Merrin's hand tightens on my arm, trying to hold me back, but I gently pull away. This is what we came for—to understand the magic of this place and find Varrika.
"I think... I think these symbols might be related to the time distortion," I say, my voice barely above a whisper. The words feel heavy on my tongue, laden with both hope and dread. "If we can figure out how they work—"
The ground shifts again, more violently this time. A low rumble fills the chamber, like the growl of some great beast waking from slumber. The entire structure seems to groan in protest, as if the very foundations are about to give way.
I press myself against the wall for support, my heart hammering against my ribs. We're running out of time. Literally. And Varrika... she could be dying right now, trapped beneath tons of stone. The thought is unbearable.
I turn to face Jeane and Merrin, my expression grave but resolute. This is our only chance.
"We have to try," I say, my voice gaining strength even as the ground beneath us continues its unsettling dance. "If these symbols control the time distortion, then maybe they can take us back—to the moment before Varrika fell. To save her."
