The chamber air hummed with tension as Seraphine stood before the towering Watcher, its presence filling the ancient space. The sword in her hands pulsed with an eerie light, responding to her touch or perhaps something else entirely. Merrin shifted beside her, fists clenched, barely restrained violence radiating from every line of her body. Varrika remained still, her expression unreadable as always, but the tightness around her eyes betrayed her own inner conflict.

The Watcher's voice boomed through their minds, a resonant challenge that seemed to vibrate within their very bones. "You have chosen to confront me, Seraphine. But are you prepared for what lies ahead?" The creature's massive form shimmered, reality itself bending around its impossible presence.

Seraphine swallowed hard, the cold sweat on her skin a stark reminder of the gravity of their situation. She could feel the weight of Jeane’s absence like a physical ache, the severed connection leaving her feeling exposed and vulnerable in this timeless realm. The sword’s grip felt wrong in her hands—too heavy, too cold—and she knew instinctively that wielding it was a double-edged blade.

Merrin took a step forward, her voice a low growl. "What do you mean, 'prepared'? You brought us here, trapped us in this collapsing tomb, and now you're asking if we're ready? Speak plainly or face my fist." Varrika placed a hand on Merrin’s arm, holding her back with barely contained strength. "Patience. This thing clearly has more to say, and we need information before—"

The Watcher’s form solidified once more, its many eyes fixed solely on Seraphine. The air around them crackled with unseen energy, and the ancient elf felt a chill that had nothing to do with the cold stone walls.
