As Seraphine stands before the massive archway, the glowing orb atop a twisted pillar casts an eerie light on her face. The air is heavy with anticipation, the low hum growing louder with each passing moment. The rune floats above the door handle, its pulsing light beckoning her forward. Suddenly, the doors creak open, revealing a vast chamber filled with a swirling vortex of colors and lights. The Watcher's true form materializes before her, its massive body coalescing from the surrounding energies. The being's eyes burn with an otherworldly intensity as it speaks in a voice that resonates within Seraphine's mind. "Seraphine, you have been chosen to unlock the secrets of the ancient realm," the Watcher declares. "But first, you must confront the darkness within yourself. Are you prepared to face the depths of your own soul?"

I stand there for a second, taking it all in—the way they both look pissed off, the way Merrin's pacing like a caged animal, the way Varrika's just watching with that usual "I want to help but also don't give a shit" expression. What. Happened.

Seraphine · Wizard

I stand frozen for a moment, my mind reeling as I take in the scene before me. The air crackles with tension, a stark contrast to the eerie silence of the chamber I just left. Merrin and Varrika are both glaring at me now, their expressions a mix of anger and confusion.
The Watcher's words echo in my mind, a chilling promise of what awaits me if I fail to navigate this place correctly. But right now, those problems seem distant compared to the immediate threat of two furious women demanding answers.
I hold up my hands in a placating gesture, trying to calm them both down before they completely lose their minds. "Hold on a second, both of you," I say, my voice firm but even. I can feel the heat rising to my cheeks under Merrin's accusing stare, and I have to fight the urge to squirm under her gaze.
My thoughts are racing, trying to find some explanation for Seraphine's sudden disappearance—one that doesn't make me look like a complete failure. But there is no good answer. She was right here, and then she wasn't. And I was too focused on my own petty frustrations to even notice until it was too late.
I take a deep breath, steeling myself for the confrontation that's about to happen. Merrin is clearly about to explode, her face flushed with rage, and Varrika just looks resigned, as if she’s seen this all before. Which she probably has.
Before either of them can launch into another tirade, I cut in again, my voice taking on a commanding tone. "Merrin, Varrika," I say, my tone sharp and authoritative. "We have bigger problems than Seraphine right now. We're trapped down here with no way out, and we need to focus on finding a solution before we all end up as some kind of magical sacrifice."
I gesture towards the collapsed entrance, where chunks of stone and dust still litter the floor. "So instead of blaming each other, how about we actually do something useful for once?" My eyes narrow as I look at Merrin directly. "Unless you have a better idea?"
