The crystal chamber's walls pulsed with an inner light, almost as if alive—as if the entire space were a single entity waiting for them to act. Seraphine stood near the newly revealed passage, her hand still gripping the Time-Splitting Sword's hilt, its power making her skin tingle. The air felt thick, charged with magic that seemed to resonate between them.

Jeane circled the room slowly, her crimson eyes scanning every surface for signs of traps or hidden mechanisms. "This feels too convenient," she said finally, her voice echoing softly off the crystal walls. "Khaos did say 'a way forward'—perhaps he meant literally." She paused by a particularly large crystal formation, running her fingers along its smooth surface. "But this feels too... easy."

Seraphine turned to face Jeane, the sword's power making her breath catch slightly. "I sense something waiting for us," she whispered, her voice barely audible over the chamber's quiet hum. "A presence, ancient and primal." She gripped the sword tighter, feeling the dark tendrils of its magic curl around her arms with an electric tingle. "It's reacting to our combined magic."

Jeane's expression darkened as she listened to Seraphine's words. This felt wrong—another piece in Khaos's twisted game. She moved closer, her wings shifting slightly as if in warning. "We've been dancing to his tune since this whole mess started," she said, her voice low and intense. "Falling down that chute, surviving the magical storm, and now he's practically inviting us to explore further." She stopped just a few feet from Seraphine, close enough for their magic to interact visibly—a faint shimmer in the air between them.

Seraphine met Jeane's gaze steadily, feeling the familiar pull of their combined power. "You're absolutely right," she said, her voice firm despite the lingering physical closeness from their fall together. "We have no idea what kind of 'invitation' this truly is." She paused, considering their options carefully. "But we can't stay here forever either—Merrin and Varrika are still trapped above, and the sword's power is only growing stronger."

Jeane nodded slowly, her mind already racing through potential plans. Seraphine's suggestion to use the sword as a 'magical antenna' was clever—a way to gain information without directly confronting whatever lay within that passage. And her concern about Khaos potentially testing their resolve was well-founded; they couldn't afford to fall into his traps again.

"Your idea has merit," Jeane admitted reluctantly. "But we need to be careful—if this is another of Khaos's tests, we can't afford to fail it." She moved closer still, until she stood directly beside Seraphine, their shoulders almost touching. The air between them crackled with barely contained power, the sword's magic intensifying at their proximity.

Seraphine felt a shiver run down her spine as Jeane drew near, the combined energies of their shared fall and the sword's influence making her heart race. She took a deep breath, centering herself before responding. "Then we'll need to approach this carefully," she said, her voice steady despite the lingering physical closeness. "I can try to... probe ahead with magic, to see what's waiting for us." She raised the sword slightly, its dark blade seeming to drink in the crystal chamber's light.

Jeane placed a hand on Seraphine's shoulder, her touch grounding them both amidst the swirling energies. "Together," she said firmly. "We face whatever comes next—together." The crystal walls around them seemed to pulse in response, as if acknowledging their decision or perhaps... welcoming it.
