Jeane’s voice cuts through the din of collapsing stone and shifting earth. “We have to get out of here, now!” Varrika readies her mace, prepared to face whatever horrors are emerging from the darkness as the chamber groans around them. The ancient runes on the walls pulse with an intense, blinding light, and the air fills with an acrid, smoky scent. Jeane gestures frantically to the ancient runes pulsing with power around them. “This isn’t about using the sword, it’s about preventing its misuse! My bloodline magic responds because I’m descended from the very architect who sealed this chamber, not because of any corruption or deal with demons!” The ground shudders again, more violently this time. Dust pours down from above like a waterfall. “We’re running out of time! Halie could be trapped somewhere between us and the surface!”

Seraphine stares at the ancient runes pulsing on the walls, their glow casting eerie shadows across Jeane’s face. The power emanating from them is unlike anything she’s ever encountered—raw, primal, and terrifyingly potent. “The ground shifts again beneath my feet, a deep rumble that speaks of an impending collapse,” she says, her voice tight with barely contained fear. “Your words ring true in some fundamental way I can’t deny, yet the chaos swirling around us makes it hard to think clearly.” She takes a step back, pressing herself against the cold stone wall for support as another tremor shakes the chamber.

Varrika’s keen eyes catch movement in the shadows near the sealed door—the same area where she’d spotted something earlier. She squints, trying to make out the shape. “What is that?” she mutters, taking a step back instinctively.
