Round 2 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 2
The Narrator restates the undertaking plainly, fixes the stakes in the room, and presses the cast to make their positions clear before the meeting can end.
I trace a spiral on the dusty table with my fingertip. I will participate. The catacombs may hold relics of genuine power—objects that can fuel our rise and draw followers to us. As for the risk: we use Silra's skills first, and if she spots an obvious guard trap or Renn’s betrayal, we retreat immediately. We do not die for a fool’s errand, but we seize opportunity where it presents itself. The storm provides cover—let its noise mask our entry into the crypts. If Sister Hale truly believes in her cause beyond mere piety theater, then she will ensure the church's restoration serves us all equally: I want power and influence from this, not just prayers to ghosts.
I holster my weapons with deliberate slowness. Let me be absolutely clear about this: I am not signing up to die for a noble cause that might as well be written in ash already. If you want to play savior to ghosts while the city guard patrols above, fine—that's your folly. But I don't work for free or for ideology. The only reason my blades stay sheathed is because there’s supposed to be loot down there valuable enough to make this risk worthwhile.
I pick up the unholy symbol carefully, turning it over in my hands. I will participate on one condition: we do this with purpose beyond mere accumulation of wealth or power for ourselves. The church's restoration must serve as a genuine beacon of hope for the people here—food for the hungry, shelter for the desperate—and not just a platform for our own advancement. If you can agree to that principle and ensure whatever we find down there is used ethically for those in need, then I’m with you. Otherwise, I walk away now, as Silra suggests.
