Round 9

Phase: resolution

Under the storm-dark sky, Silra's slender fingers wrapped around the hilt of her dagger, her eyes fixed on the stone before her. With a quiet deliberation, she lifted the cracked slab, the thin wedge sliding under the edge with a faint sigh. As the stone shifted, the glowing fissure in the road widened, revealing a narrow, damp tunnel that curled into the earth, its entrance unmarked by any trap mechanism. The air within was heavy with the scent of wet stone and old dust, yet no pressure plates or spike traps betrayed their presence as Silra stepped back.

The others watched her with a mixture of curiosity and concern, but Silra's expression remained inscrutable. She nodded once to Jeane, her voice low and even, "Path's clear for now." The sorceress's eyes darted toward the tunnel, her gaze lingering on the pulsing sickly light beneath the road before she turned back to Sister Hale.
