The air was heavy with anticipation as Jeane and Silra stood frozen on the narrow bridge, the water channel's surge mere moments away from its peak. The rusted key in Silra's hand seemed to writhe in agony, a searing pain that underscored the calculated precision behind their positioning. Jeane's teal eyes narrowed as she recalculated every tactical variable across her arcane sight, her gaze locked onto Silra's for reassurance.

The ground beneath them trembled ominously, revealing a dark, narrow tunnel beneath Gravehill. The air emanating from the tunnel was musty and filled with the scent of decay, but Jeane's bones felt it before she saw it—the ground trembling with purpose rather than decay. Someone—or something—under Gravehill was taking notice now that they'd lingered too long on their threshold. Silra's burning hand and bruised wrist spoke to her own growing unease, as if the scuttling sounds beneath the road were a constant reminder of the unknown threats lurking in the shadows.

Jeane's gaze flickered to the key, still searing through Silra's glove, and her mind whirled with the possibilities. The rusted key may unlock more than just the gate, and the thought sent a shiver down her spine. She knew that one miscalculated move could prove disastrous, but she also knew that they had to press on. With a deep breath, she reached out and grasped Silra's arm, her eyes locked onto hers. "We need to move," she whispered, her voice barely audible over the growing roar of the water channel.
