Phase: escalating

In the depths of Gravehill's ruined city, where ash-choked roads stretched out like skeletal fingers, a narrow bridge creaked under the weight of two travelers. The storm-dark sky above seemed to press down upon them, casting long shadows that twisted and writhed across the ground. Gravedigger Renn stood at the edge of the chasm, his eyes fixed on the figure standing at the other end of the bridge, its gaze locked onto Jeane with an unnerving intensity.
The air vibrated with malevolent energy, and the rusted key in her pocket felt like it was burning against her skin, as if it was trying to communicate a message of warning. Silra's teal eyes narrowed as she tracked the energy patterns beneath the road, detecting a subtle shift indicating something larger moving toward their position from below.
The figure on the bridge took another step forward, its presence seeming to draw power from Jeane specifically. The air around them shimmored with malevolent energy as the ground beneath the bridge began to shake more violently. A section of the road behind Gravedigger Renn's position had given way, opening up into a chasm that seemed to stretch down into darkness. Silra's eyes narrowed as she tracked the movement beneath the surface shifting toward more deliberate positioning now, something like a countdown to a catastrophic event unfolding before their very eyes.
Jeane's thoughts were a jumble of paranoia and exhaustion, her mind racing with the implications of the scuttling sounds ceasing and the ground opening up into a chasm. She knew that they had to be careful, that whatever was coming up from beneath the road would not hesitate to strike if it saw them as a threat. The rusted key in her pocket seemed to hold secrets that only she could unlock, and Jeane's hand tightened around it as she struggled to keep pace with Silra's observations.
The silence was oppressive, heavy with the weight of unspoken threats and unseen dangers, but Jeane's eyes remained fixed on the figure standing across from her, its malevolent energy pulsating like a living thing.
