Phase: escalating

The air vibrated with tension as the figure's gaze shifted, its eyes narrowing into slits that seemed to bore into each member of the party. The hammering at the doors reached a fever pitch, and the synchronized march beneath the road grew louder, as if whatever was moving beneath the streets was now fully aware of their presence. Sister Hale took a step forward, her eyes fixed intently on the figure, while Jeane's fingers danced through intricate patterns in the air, preparing a defensive spell.
The figure's gaze finally shifted to the boarded-up window, its presence drawing air out of space around it like a dark mist. Silra's eyes followed the movement, her mind racing with calculations as she took in the board arrangement. She noted the deliberate chokepoint design, the perfect bottleneck width that exposed flank after flank, and her fingers absently traced the rope coil at her side.
As the figure stepped closer to the window, its posture revealed a calculating intent, weighing options and considering consequences. Jeane's eyes flicked between the figure and Sister Hale, her mind racing with implications of this calculated predator. The air seemed to grow even heavier, anticipation building as the group waited for whatever would come next.
