Phase: resolution · forced · organic escalating

The ground shuddered violently once more, sending a fresh wave of ash cascading down from the grating above. Sister Hale swiftly moved to create a diversion on the opposite side of the road, her unholy symbol at the ready. With a swift motion, she hurled the rusty key at a nearby pile of rubble, where it clattered against stone and sent sparks flying into the air. The brief distraction was all Gravedigger Renn needed; he sprinted toward the far end of the alley leading deeper into the city, his fear-fueled legs pumping furiously as he fled from the approaching guards.
As he ran, the raspy voice echoed through the alley, its ominous warning hanging in the air. Sister Hale swiftly pulled Gravedigger Renn back from the chitinous horror that had burst forth from the darkness, her hands digging deep into his shoulders to yank him away from whatever was trying to drag them under the city's streets. The ground beneath their feet was shifting like liquid now – this wasn't random tremors anymore, but a deliberate movement, as if the very earth itself was being manipulated by some unseen force. The guard captain and his men were closing in, their footsteps heavy and relentless, and Sister Hale knew she had to act fast to protect Gravedigger Renn from both the guards and the monstrous creature lurking beneath the city's surface.
