I grit my teeth against the pull, feeling the rope burn through my cloak. "Renn, what did you see? Tell me everything—now!" My hand tightens around his arm, not letting him slip away. We're trapped between the city guard and whatever's under our feet. Gravedigger Renn takes a deep breath before speaking in a hushed tone, "I... I saw it when I was digging graves. The awakening... it was like nothing I've ever seen before. The earth would shudder, and then these... things would rise up from the ground. They were twisted, corrupted creatures, but they seemed to be made of the very darkness itself."

The sound of scuttling grows louder, and a faint scratching noise echoes from deeper within the tunnel. The air seems to vibrate with an otherworldly energy, making the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end. Suddenly, Gravedigger Renn's eyes go wide as he hears the unmistakable creaking of rusty hinges from above, followed by heavy footsteps approaching their location.
