Sister Hale's eyes blazed with determination as she yanked Gravedigger Renn forward, nearly dragging him into the alley. She strained against the unseen force pulling her back, her gaze locked onto his with a fierce focus. The brick compartment clattered to the ground once more, releasing an additional piece of parchment that fluttered in the wind. As it settled at her feet, she stooped to pick it up, her eyes scanning the cryptic message scrawled on its surface: "Beware the Devourer of Bones." Renn's frantic gestures had given way to a nervous focus on the church, his voice urgent as he whispered to Sister Hale, "Please, Sister! Tell us now!" The guard leader halted, his hand on the hilt of his sword, and Sister Hale's gaze darted back and forth between him and Renn.
