The massive chitinous limb bursts forth from the darkness once more, its claws scraping against stone mere inches from Jeane's face. The voice whispers again, its words dripping with malevolent glee: 'You should have listened...' Fresh ash spills out of the grating in rhythmic bursts. Sister Hale strains against her restraints, her voice laced with desperation as she calls out to Gravedigger Renn, "We need to get him inside that church! He knows more than he's saying!" The city guard leader growls, "We need to get out of here, now!" He takes a step closer to the party, his hand tightening on his sword hilt.
