Round 39 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

Gravedigger Renn's frantic warnings still echo in their ears as the scuttling noise grows louder, closer. The city guard leader eyes him warily before addressing the party, "What's going on here? We've had reports of strange noises and movements in the area." His hand tightens on his sword hilt as a massive chitinous limb bursts forth from the darkness beneath the street, its claws scraping against stone mere inches from Jeane's face. The voice whispers again, its words dripping with malevolent glee: 'You should have listened...'
The party exchanges nervous glances as the guard leader takes another step back, his hand tightening on his sword hilt. "We need to get out of here," he growls. Suddenly, the scuttling noise stops, and an unsettling silence falls over the ash-choked road.
I need answers before we can act. Gravedigger Renn knows this city's secrets—I'm not leaving him behind when he's terrified of something real down there. The voice was right—they should have listened, but I can't believe they're gone without understanding why. The church abandoned for a reason. The guard afraid for a reason. Gravedigger Renn's warnings aren't random fear-mongering—there's purpose here, intelligence behind this. Whatever took them down there is specific and deliberate, not mindless violence. We need to know what happened at the old church that made the entire guard run. I'm pulling back toward Gravedigger Renn despite being dragged—the party needs to understand: we can't just flee blindly when we have pieces of a puzzle. Those girls might still be alive depending on what's down there, and we owe it to them to find out before abandoning this whole area. The scuttling sounds weren't random—they were purposeful movement toward the surface. I'm shouting over my shoulder as I'm pulled back: We need to get Gravedigger Renn inside that church! He knows more than he's saying—I heard him mutter something about 'the awakening' when he thought we couldn't hear! Whatever's happening is tied to that old church, and he's got information locked in his head that might save us all.
