As Jeane plunges into the darkness, her arcane energy swirling around her hand, she manages to pinpoint Sister Hale's exact location. The faint cry of "Hale! Sister Hale!" grows louder, and Jeane can sense that her fellow party member is closer than before. Suddenly, a massive chitinous claw scrapes the stone near the grating, sending debris flying in all directions. Silra swiftly moves to secure her lantern, its light casting flickering shadows on the walls as she prepares for their descent. Jeane's eyes narrow, focusing on the tunnel ahead. "We need to move quickly," she says, her voice low and urgent. "Whatever's down here is getting closer." The clicking sounds of creatures moving below grow more frantic with every step, and Jeane can feel the air thickening with anticipation. She takes a deep breath, ready to face whatever lies ahead, as the ground shudders violently once more.

Silra

Silra · Rogue

Silra's teal eyes flicker with sharp calculation as she considers the tactical implications. Psychic influence changes everything. If these creatures can affect minds—if they're using some kind of telepathic intimidation or manipulation—they might already be working on Hale, even now while we're still above ground. She checks her dagger's edge quickly but keeps one eye on the grating where claws are still scraping stone. We drop in blind with arcane light and try to locate her? That pins us as targets immediately. Silra crouches near the opening, running calculations fast. Or I go first—rope down solo, silent approach, check if she's coherent before we bring the whole situation down. If she's just disoriented or pinned physically, great. If she's compromised mentally and we drop in as a unit, we're dealing with two threats at once: her plus whatever's down there using her against us. The rogue's gaze narrows. Divide and conquer principle—if I can get to her quietly before full engagement, we might resolve the hostage situation before the real monsters even know we're here. She glances back at Jeane. You cover above with your arcane light plus that unholy symbol. If I signal up—I'll tap twice on rope—that means clear path or immediate threat below. If you don't see me in three minutes, assume worst case and prepare to drop down lighting the whole tunnel. Silra's expression is coldly pragmatic. This way we maintain surprise and prevent whatever's down there from using Hale as bait while we're all clustered at the entry point.
