The darkness seemed to writhe around them as the ground shook once more, the scuttling growing into a cacophony of chitinous limbs bursting forth from the earth. Silra leapt forward, her reflexes honed by years of stealth and deception, yanking Jeane close as she grabbed onto her arm with a firm grip. "Move!" she snarled, her eyes scanning the chaos for any sign of Sister Hale.

The cleric's voice echoed through the narrow alleyway, her words laced with urgency as she clambered over rubble to reach Silra and Jeane. "Silra! I'm here—what's happening?" Her lantern cast flickering shadows on the stone walls, illuminating the crumbling remains of what once might have been a grand building.

Jeane stepped forward, her gaze cold and calculating as she surveyed the scene. The air was heavy with the stench of decay and something far more sinister. She raised her hand, arcane symbols tracing patterns across her palm as she began to weave a spell of protection and illumination. "We can't stay scattered and exposed," she muttered, her eyes fixed on the creature that had emerged from the earth. It was unlike anything Jeane had seen before – its chitinous limbs seemed to be moving of their own accord, as if driven by some malevolent intelligence.

As the creature lurched forward, its eyes fixed on Sister Hale, Silra's grip on Jeane's arm tightened. "We need to get out of here," she whispered, her voice barely audible over the din of the storm and the scuttling beneath their feet. But it was too late – the creature had already spotted them, its gaze locking onto the cleric with an unnerving intensity.
