In Sister Hale's own words

I am Sister Hale. I carry this holy symbol not for comfort but for duty—its silver edge catches the weak light like a promise I've sworn to keep. My voice is steady because I have learned that fear speaks louder when it is silent. This road we walk, cracked and barren, mirrors the path of my faith: broken ground where things must be rebuilt, even if the foundations crumble beneath us. I try. I try not to let their eyes hungry when they see a town's ruin or a soul's corruption—I am here to heal, to guide, to hold what little good remains against the encroaching dark. But sometimes, holding means gripping hard enough to bruise your own hand. My compassion is stubborn. It refuses to let me look away even when the weight of this world presses down like a tombstone on my chest. So I speak—not with fire as she does, or cold calculation as he does—but with words that carry the weight of conviction born from too many graves seen and sins witnessed. I am a central character. Not because I seek it but because someone must stand in the center when the world fractures apart. My faith is my shield and my sword, and sometimes they are one and the same—sharper than I wish, heavier than I can bear alone. But alone is not an option here; alone is how souls break. I am Sister Hale. And right now, what I want most is for us to move forward without leaving pieces of ourselves behind on this ash-choked road.
