As Silra's feet flew out from under her, Jeane swiftly closed the distance, her long fingers closing around Silra's wrist like a vice. "Hold on!" she shouted above the growing din of bubbling liquid and churning foam below. The wooden slats groaned in protest as they both struggled to maintain their footing, the air thick with the stench of decay and rot. Jeane's grip tightened as the staircase lurched violently once more, sending Silra tumbling down into the churning depths below.

Silra's cry echoed up from the depths, her voice muffled by the foam and liquid that seemed to be swallowing her whole. The chamber erupted into a frenzy of bubbling, churning, and foaming as if whatever was stirring in the darkness below had been awakened by their presence. Jeane's eyes darted frantically around the stairs, searching for an alternative route down or a way to stabilize the precarious structure before it gave way completely.
