Round 10

The groaning sound from upstairs intensifies—definitely multiple intruders, and they're getting closer. The homeowner woman's eyes narrow as she watches Jeane approach, her hand still firm on her husband's arm holding him back. "Prove it?" she repeats coldly. "You break into my house, try to seduce my husband with some cheap trick, then demand I prove ownership? You've got a lot of nerve." Her gaze shifts past Jeane toward the cowering Abby in the corner. "And what's your friend doing there exactly? This isn't a fucking sleepover."

Silra moves smoothly between them and the door, her rogue-trained instincts already assessing every angle. She's not drawing weapons yet—too risky with armed civilians—but her posture is coiled spring ready to explode into action. When she speaks to Jeane, it's low but sharp: "You're negotiating with armed civilians who clearly know this building intimately. That noise upstairs? Multiple intruders. We don't need more problems right now." Hera steps forward too, her voice steady despite the obvious tension in her shoulders. "Silra's right. Let's not escalate this."

Halie shifts her weight subtly—hand brushing against her belt pouch where healing vials clink faintly against ritual implements. Her blue-grey eyes are calculating as she scans the room and stairs above. "We cannot afford to underestimate these people or whatever's happening upstairs," she says calmly. "The man has a gun and they clearly know this building intimately. Whatever's happening upstairs complicates everything." Her gaze locks with Silra's for a long moment—silent communication passing between two experienced operators.

Abby, meanwhile, is pressed into the corner like a terrified animal, her wide brown eyes fixed on the ceiling above as more heavy footsteps echo down from upstairs. When she speaks, it's barely audible: "I... I think they're going to find us." Her voice trembles with fear that borders on panic—terror of discovery warring with the lingering effects of what happened earlier.

The homeowner woman glances at her husband again, then back to the group in the basement. Her expression hardens further. "You have exactly one chance to explain why multiple people are breaking into my house and trying to... do whatever this is..." She gestures vaguely at the debauched scene below them. "Before things get very messy for all of you."
