Round 8

Jeane's mind races through strategic possibilities even as her body remains still and alert. The woman standing in the doorway represents an immediate threat to their operation—the casual confidence of someone who knows they hold all the cards. But beneath that surface layer, Jeane senses something more interesting: a flicker of power that doesn't align with simple human curiosity.
The sound from upstairs—loud enough to be a physical impact—introduces yet another variable she can't afford to ignore. Her demonic instincts scream at her to eliminate these witnesses immediately and quietly, but the sorceress in her recognizes the stupidity of such an approach. The last thing they need is a missing persons report filed before their recruitment efforts even begin.
"Your curiosity is noted," Jeane says finally, her voice carefully modulated between dismissive and conciliatory. "But I assure you, whatever you've heard or seen is none of your concern." She takes one measured step forward, her wings shifting subtly to display their full span—an unsubtle reminder of what she truly is beneath the human facade. "You have two choices: leave now and forget everything, or we'll be forced to take... more persuasive measures."
The threat hangs in the air between them, unspoken but entirely clear. Jeane's fingers twitch, ready to cast a spell if this escalates further—she'd rather avoid bloodshed at this stage, but her patience is already thin from exhaustion and the ongoing security breach upstairs.
"Time is short," she adds with an edge of impatience creeping into her tone. "Choose quickly."
