Round 24 Transcript

The lead soldier's expression doesn't change—if anything, she looks mildly amused that I'm trying to negotiate rather than simply comply. "You want terms?" She tilts her head slightly. "Fine. Here they are:
- You and all your... followers will accompany us quietly to a secure location for 'interviewing.'
- Once there, you'll provide detailed statements about the events leading up to tonight's gathering.
- You'll also identify and explain your relationship with Silra—why she called for backup and what exactly you're involved in here.
As she speaks, the second soldier moves to flank our group more effectively, positioning himself between us and the door. "And just so we're clear," the lead continues, "any resistance or attempted escape results in immediate arrest and charges being filed. We have enough evidence already to put you all away for years—don't make it worse."
The new detail: A third figure emerges from behind the church, moving toward us with purpose—they're wearing plain clothes but carrying themselves like law enforcement. "Now," the soldier finishes, "you can walk out of here willingly or we can do this the hard way. Your choice."
Pressure mounts as the situation continues to escalate—more eyes on us now, more officers involved, and less room for negotiation.
[Your turn]
I feel my heart sinking as the reality of our situation crashes down—I was hoping to talk ourselves out of this mess, but these soldiers aren't here for idle chit-chat. Silra's betrayal cuts deep, especially knowing she sold out those girls too—what kind of monster does that?
Jeane looks ready to explode with rage, and I can see the wheels turning in her head about using magic to solve this problem. That's the last thing we need right now—attracting more attention or accidentally incinerating ourselves. Hera and Abby are frozen in terror, clinging to each other like scared children who have no idea what's happening.
I need to think clearly here. The soldier wants us to go somewhere quiet for interviews? That might buy time to figure out our next move—better than resisting and ending up in cuffs immediately. But what kind of 'interviews' are we really talking about? And once we're alone with them, who knows what could happen.*
Still... staying here is just inviting more trouble. The sun's coming up, people are definitely awake now watching from their windows, and every passing second makes this situation worse. I glance at Jeane—she's our leader, but she's also a ticking time bomb ready to cause more problems than solutions.
Fine. If we have to go with them, then we do it smartly. "We'll cooperate," I say slowly, keeping my voice steady despite the fear churning in my stomach. "But on one condition—we all stay together as a group, and these interviews happen in public where there are witnesses."
It's not much, but at least if we're in a crowded area or somewhere visible, they can't just make us disappear without drawing attention. Let them think we're naive enough to trust their word—I'll take ignorant over dead any day.
I step closer to Jeane and lower my voice. "Play along for now. We need to get out of this street before things spiral completely out of control."*
[Your turn]
I force myself to stay quiet for a moment—barely containing the rage that wants to explode out of me at this situation and especially at Silra—but I can't let my temper override sense right now. Halie's trying to negotiate like we're in some kind of courtroom drama instead of standing here with our backs against the wall while these bitches dangle evidence over us like a carrot on a stick.
The way they're positioning themselves—flanking us, cutting off escape routes, bringing in more muscle—they're not asking nicely. They're setting up a fucking arrest without the courtesy of actually saying so until after we've agreed to be marched somewhere quieter and more controlled. And Halie? Sweet naive little Halie thinks we can "stay together as a group" like this is some kind of witness protection deal instead of what it obviously is—pretext for kidnapping.
These soldiers aren't here for justice or even closure—they're here to round up all the loose ends Silra left dangling so nobody talks. Take us somewhere isolated, "interview" us until we sign confessions or disappear completely, and then clean up whatever's left without witnesses. That's their fucking game plan.
I won't let that happen. We're not cattle being herded into slaughter pens for their convenience while they smile like this is all above board. These bitches want a quiet resolution? Fine. They'll get one—my way.
