Jeane’s patience snapped like a taut wire stretched too far. The emergency lights pulsed faster now, casting her in a strobing crimson glow that made her pale skin seem to burn from within. She stalked across the room, her dark wings half-spread in an instinctive display of irritation.

“Enough,” she hissed, grabbing Halie’s arm and pulling her closer with surprising strength for someone so slender. The cleric gasped, her wide brown eyes going even wider as she found herself suddenly pressed against Jeane’s voluptuous form. “My dear girl, you’ve been standing there wringing your hands while Silra wastes precious time on that contraption. Let me show you how to truly help our engineer.”

Abby watched the scene unfold with a mix of growing anxiety and reluctant admiration. She’d never seen someone quite so... direct about their needs before. The building’s vague sexual requirements had always felt unsettlingly ambiguous, but here was Jeane, turning them into something concrete and immediate.

Silra glanced up from the sparking capacitor, her expression sharp with barely contained frustration. “Jeane, offering Halie isn’t helping my concentration.” She tapped the faulty component with a precision tool, leaving a small scratch on its surface. “This needs micro-adjustments, not... whatever that was meant to be.”

The red light pulsed again, faster now, and Abby felt a fresh wave of that strange, insistent pressure wash over her. It felt like fingers tightening around her throat, demanding compliance. The building’s impatience was becoming harder to ignore with each passing second.

Jeane merely smirked, her crimson eyes gleaming in the emergency lighting. “Oh, my dear Silra, you always did prefer the long way around.” She ran a hand down Halie’s arm in a gesture that was almost casual but clearly meant to demonstrate ownership. “Think of it as... stress relief for the team. A quick break to clear our heads so we can all focus better.”

Silra’s jaw tightened, her slender fingers curling into fists at her sides. “I don’t need stress relief,” she snapped, her voice carrying across the room. “I need to fix this capacitor before the building decides to... do whatever it does when it doesn’t get what it wants.” She took a deep breath, visibly trying to calm herself. “Abby, could you maybe help me hold this steady? Two hands are better than one for fine work.”

Abby nodded gratefully, moving over to Silra’s side. The proximity was a relief—Jeane’s intensity had been almost overwhelming from across the room. She picked up a small clamp, positioning it carefully as Silra worked.

The penthouse suite felt suddenly smaller, the air charged with unspoken tensions and barely restrained desires. The red light pulsed again, a reminder that time was running out for more... conventional methods of problem-solving.
