I step closer to Silra's workstation, scanning her schematics over her shoulder. The technical details are beyond me, but I trust her skill more than Hera's impulsive tinkering—and certainly more than Jeane's growing impatience. "This could work," I say slowly, "but we need to be sure it won't compromise the building's structure." I glance at the rumbling walls. "And we can't afford mistakes. I watch Silra and Halie work on the sybian with growing admiration and a touch of envy. Their technical skills are impressive, but I know they won't satisfy Jeane for long.
