My voice stays measured but there's an undercurrent of urgency. "I'm not judging what we've done—I understand the necessity—but this can't go on forever. We need a real fix, not just temporary relief." I crouch down beside her workstation, looking at the schematics and components spread out. "You're brilliant at this kind of engineering.
