Round 30 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

Halie watches Silra's methodical disassembly of the sybian. She respects the technical skill but feels increasing unease about the direction they're taking. The building's demand for 'togetherness' echoes ominously in her mind—Jeane's exploration approach might satisfy that requirement, but at what cost? She moves to stand beside Silra's workbench. "Stronger construction is necessary," Halie agrees, "but I worry that simply reinforcing this design won't address the underlying issue. The building wants us together somehow—I'm not convinced brute force will satisfy that condition as effectively as a more... creative approach." Her voice carries measured concern rather than dismissive judgment.
I watch Silra work, her fingers nimble on the tools. The way she strips down that sybian—there's an art to it. I respect skill when I see it, even if I disagree on application. "That craftsmanship is an insult to demons everywhere," I mutter, circling the disassembled parts. "But you handle the physical world well enough."
I turn to Halie, her worry showing clear as day. The girl needs reassurance, and right now, that's my job as leader—even if part of me wants to shove Silra onto the sybian just to prove a point. Instead: "Halie dear, your heart's in the right place," I say with a smile that doesn't quite reach my eyes, "but we need solid solutions here." My gaze shifts back to Silra. "I see what you're doing—reinforcement is smart—but let me ask something." I lean against her workbench, careful of my wings. "Have you considered what's causing these failures in the first place? The building demands satisfaction, yes, but why this specific equipment breaking?"
Silra looks up from the scattered remains of the sybian, her fingers tracing the splintered wood along the stress fracture. Mapping floors is fine for tourists. This thing's built like a house of cards that got rained on twice—cheap plywood and hope. We don't need to go door-to-door asking permissions. She picks up a screwdriver, testing its edge. What we need is something that can take all of us without coming apart. Because if you keep riding this like it's your favorite toy, she glances at Jeane with an eyebrow raised, it won't be any use to anyone. Halie's suggestion about 'creativity' gets a snort. No offense to the divine inspiration, but we need engineering, not art class. This building wants results, right? So let's give it something functional.
