To Hera, she adds with more authority, 'Stay put or I'll make sure Silra has company for the rest of the night.' Her threat is clear—Silra would become entertainment if Hera disobeys. Then to Abby, 'Come here, sweet thing. Let me show you why you should ignore that dark passage entirely.' Jeane's eyes gleam with predatory promise.

Silra steps between Hera and the corridor, her hand going instinctively to where her blade should be—a habit still not broken after hours of naked revelry. "I don't care how curious you are," she says flatly, "that tunnel is likely a death trap or a slavery corridor for the building's real occupants."
