Round 83 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

I stand frozen in the shadowed corner of the penthouse suite, my heart pounding against my ribs like a trapped bird. The air crackles with an energy that has nothing to do with the city lights outside, and everything to do with the being at the center of the room. Jeane. A succubus. The truth of it is a cold sweat trickling down my spine.
My eyes dart from Silra's sharp movements as she tries to create some order out of this chaos, to Hera's frantic attempts to reach the tunnel entrance where I am trapped. They don't know what Jeane really is. They can't see the way her wings hum with a sinister power, the way her eyes seem to find me even in the gloom. She is the predator here, and I am the prey.
I watch as Hera tries to push past Jeane's warning barrier of electricity. The sizzle and smell of burned flesh fills the air, and for a moment, a wild hope sparks within me. Maybe Hera can save us all. But then she falls back, clutching her arm, defeated. Silra is right there, ready to help, but it’s too late.
My gaze returns to Jeane. She stands with an almost regal composure, her wings spread wide, a living cage of sparks and heat. She knows I’m here. Her lips curve into a knowing smile, as if she can hear the frantic beat of my heart. A wave of pure terror washes over me, mixing with a deep, shameful thrill.
I have to get out of this room. I have to find a way past her. But how? I am just a human woman, naked and vulnerable in a world that has suddenly become far more dangerous than I ever imagined.
I extend my wings fully across the tunnel entrance again, creating an impenetrable barrier of crackling electricity and heat. "Stop this foolishness, Hera," I say calmly but firmly. "You cannot pass through here—not with these wings out." The air shimmers with the energy I'm channeling, making it clear any attempt would be painful at best, lethal at worst. Silra watches from behind Hera, and I catch her eye. She's considering something—likely how to create a distraction so she can slip past while everyone's attention is on the tunnel drama. I subtly shift my position, ensuring I'm between Silra and the corridor leading back to the main suite where we started this evening.
I step in front of Hera before she can burn herself again on Jeane's wings. "Enough," I say sharply. "You're not thinking clearly." My eyes flick between her and the glowing barrier ahead. The electrical crackling sounds unstable. "That tunnel is compromised, and Abby's fine. We'll find another way."
Jeane's wings flare wider, a warning as much as a show of force. Her expression is unreadable—angry, maybe, or just hungry for more chaos. I'm not sure which is worse right now.
