Round 14

Phase: escalating

Jeane leaned back against the bedpost, wings folding neatly behind her as she regarded the two women with an expression that balanced amusement with barely restrained irritation. "Possession? My dear Hera," she addressed the cleric directly, voice dripping with saccharine insincerity, "I'm merely offering Silra what every woman deserves—a chance to experience pleasure beyond imagining." Her crimson eyes gleamed as she continued, "As for you interfering in my negotiations—" She trailed off, letting the unspoken threat hang heavy in the air between them.
Silra's teal gaze darted between Jeane and Halie, her fingers absently tracing the contours of the toy in her hands. The succubus's words were smooth as silk, but there was something predatory beneath the surface that set her teeth on edge—this demon played for keeps, and she wasn't sure she liked being anyone's prize. Still, even knowing the risks, part of her couldn't help but wonder what those promises of 'pleasure beyond imagining' might actually entail...
Halie met Jeane's gaze steadily, unmoved by the implied threat. "Pleasure isn't worth losing yourself," she countered firmly. "And I won't stand by while you try to seduce Silra into selling her soul for a few moments of ecstasy." Her grip tightened on the mace, though her voice remained level. "If you want us to help you with this quest, you'll respect our boundaries and find another way."
Jeane's smile didn't waver, but something dangerous flashed in her eyes—predatory amusement mixed with barely contained fury at being challenged so openly. "Oh Hera," she purred, voice low and menacing, "you have no idea what you're interfering with." She pushed off from the bedpost, moving with fluid grace that belied the coiled power in her muscles. "But don't worry—I'm more than patient enough to teach both of you exactly why mortals shouldn't cross a succubus." The air around her seemed to shimmer with heat as she advanced on Halie, stopping just out of arm's reach. "Now then—shall we continue our little experiment in group dynamics? Or would you prefer I demonstrate the consequences of defying me?"
Silra tensed, ready to intervene if things escalated further, but something held her back—the way Jeane moved, the heat radiating off her skin even at this distance, the sheer power barely contained in that lithe frame. This wasn't just a woman—this was a being operating on an entirely different level of existence. Part of her screamed to run, to get as far away from this dangerous creature as possible. But another part—the reckless, curious part that had always gotten her into trouble—found itself oddly fascinated by the prospect of exploring exactly how far she could push before those consequences became... permanent.
Halie stood her ground, though her heart raced at Jeane's sudden shift in demeanor. "I'm not defying you," she said calmly, though her palms were sweating where they gripped the mace. "I'm refusing to let you manipulate Silra into something she might regret." She took a small step back as Jeane advanced, maintaining distance between them. "If you want our help with this quest, fine—we'll do what we agreed to. But not like this."
Jeane's lips curved into a smile that didn't reach her eyes—cold, sharp, and utterly devoid of warmth. "Oh Hera," she breathed, voice soft and deadly, "you still don't understand." In the blink of an eye, she closed the distance between them, one hand shooting out to grip Halie's chin firmly while the other pressed against her chest just above her heart. A jolt of pure sensation—heat, pleasure, and something else, something darker—lanced through Halie at the touch. "Let me make this very clear," Jeane whispered, her face inches from the cleric's, "you don't get to tell me no." The air around them seemed to thicken, growing heavy with a palpable energy that made it hard to breathe.
Silra felt the shift in the room's atmosphere like a physical weight pressing down on her chest. Her fingers tightened around the toy until her knuckles turned white—was this what Halie had meant about 'possession'? The sheer force of Jeane's will was like a physical blow, and she found herself taking an involuntary step forward before catching herself. What the hell was happening here? She'd dealt with plenty of dangerous situations before, but something about this felt... different. More fundamental.
Halie gasped as Jeane's touch sent waves of conflicting sensation crashing through her body—pleasure so intense it bordered on pain, a dark compulsion to obey, and beneath it all, the faintest whisper of something ancient and terrifying. Her eyes widened in shock as she realized what she was feeling—the raw power of a succubus trying to force its will onto hers. The mace slipped from her suddenly nerveless fingers, clattering to the floor as her knees went weak. "No..." she managed to choke out, even as part of her screamed to give in, to obey whatever this demon wanted...
Jeane's smile widened into something feral and triumphant as Halie's resistance crumbled. "That's right," she crooned, voice like velvet and venom wrapped together. "Just let go—let me show you what real pleasure feels like." She leaned in closer, her lips barely a breath away from Halie's ear as she continued in a low purr, "You don't have to fight this anymore. All you have to do is say yes—and I'll make you feel things beyond your wildest dreams."
Silra watched in horrified fascination as Halie succumbed to Jeane's influence. This was beyond mere seduction—this was outright mind control, and she couldn't let it continue without intervention. Before she could fully think through the consequences, her feet were carrying her forward, closing the distance between herself and the demon. "Jeane," she said sharply, voice cutting through the thick air like a knife, "that's enough." She grabbed the succubus's shoulder with one hand while yanking Halie free with the other, breaking the physical contact.
The moment Silra touched Jeane, the spell shattered like glass. Halie stumbled back, gasping for breath as the dark compulsion evaporated, leaving her feeling violated and vulnerable. She looked at Silra with wide, grateful eyes before her gaze snapped back to Jeane, face hardening into determination. "I said no," she growled, grabbing her fallen mace and holding it ready between herself and the demon. "And I meant it."
Jeane snarled in frustration as the spell broke, whirling to face Silra with eyes blazing crimson. "You interfering little—" She cut off abruptly, taking a step back as she assessed the situation. Halie had her mace raised defensively, Silra stood protectively between them both, and the momentary advantage she'd gained had evaporated faster than steam in a sauna. This wasn't going how it was supposed to go at all...
Silra met Jeane's glare evenly, one hand still gripping the toy while the other hung loose and ready at her side. "I think we need to have a serious talk about boundaries," she said coolly, though her heart was pounding in her chest from the adrenaline rush of breaking that spell. "Because what you just tried with Halie? That's not negotiation—it's assault." Her teal eyes never left Jeane's face as she continued, voice low and dangerous, "You may be powerful, but we're not helpless. Try something like that again, and I'll show you exactly why elves earned their reputation for being unbreakable."
Jeane's expression cycled through frustration, shock, and grudging respect before settling into a calculating mask. She held up her hands in a gesture of surrender, though her wings remained half-spread in a clear sign she wasn't entirely convinced of Silra's peaceful intentions. "My apologies," she said after a moment, voice carefully neutral. "I let my temper get the better of me—something I assure you won't happen again." She took another step back, giving them both space. "Perhaps we should... take a break and reconsider our approach to this arrangement?"
Halie lowered her mace slightly but didn't relax her stance entirely. "A break sounds good," she agreed warily. "But before we do anything else, I want to know exactly what you meant by 'physical loyalty'—and what the real terms of this agreement are." Her blue-grey eyes were cold and suspicious as they fixed on Jeane. "Because from where I'm standing, it looks like you're trying to trick us into signing away more than just our bodies for a night."
Jeane's jaw tightened almost imperceptibly before she forced her features back into a mask of calm composure. She moved to sit on the edge of the bed, wings folding neatly behind her as she arranged herself in a posture of relaxed authority. "Very well," she said after a moment, voice measured and controlled. "Let me be clear—what I offered Silra wasn't slavery or mind control." Her crimson eyes met each woman's in turn before continuing, "Physical loyalty means exactly that: loyalty based on physical pleasure and mutual benefit. I would provide her with unparalleled sexual experiences while she uses her unique skills to help me complete this quest."
Silra crossed her arms over her chest, the toy still gripped loosely in one hand as she listened skeptically. "And what exactly does 'mutual benefit' mean in this context?" she asked sharply. "Because from where I'm standing, it sounds like you get all the fun while we do all the work."
Jeane's lips curved into something that might have been a smile if not for the cold calculation in her eyes. "On the contrary," she purred, voice smooth and persuasive, "I would be providing each of you with pleasures beyond your wildest imagination—multiple times throughout our arrangement." She leaned forward slightly, crimson gaze intense as she continued, "Think about it: unlimited access to a succubus's sexual prowess for however long this quest takes. The kind of experiences most mortals only dream about—and some never even imagine."
Halie shifted her grip on the mace, clearly unconvinced despite the temptation in Jeane's words. "And what happens if we decide we want out after a week—or a day?" she challenged. "How do we know this 'arrangement' doesn't have hidden clauses that'll come back to bite us later?"
Jeane's expression flickered with irritation before smoothing back into something approaching patience. "Contractual obligations," she said slowly, as if explaining complex concepts to children. "The terms would be clearly laid out—duration of the arrangement, specific services provided by each party, and mutual expectations." She spread her hands in a gesture of openness that didn't quite match the calculating look in her eyes. "I'm more than willing to have a lawyer draw up official documents if that makes you feel more secure."
Silra snorted derisively at that suggestion. "A lawyer? Really?" she scoffed. "As if any human contract could actually bind a succubus." She began pacing slowly, the toy in her hands turning over and over as she thought aloud. "No—if we're going to do this, it needs to be on our terms. No hidden clauses, no mind games, no trying to trick us into signing away more than we agree to."
Jeane's wings twitched with barely contained annoyance before she forced herself to relax. "Very well," she said after a moment, voice tight with barely suppressed frustration. "What exactly are your terms, then?" Her crimson eyes fixed on Silra intently as she continued, "Because I assure you, I'm not in the habit of negotiating with mortals—this is already far outside my usual... operating procedures."
Halie shifted her stance slightly, mace still held ready but no longer pointed directly at Jeane. "Our terms are simple," she said coolly. "No mind control or magical coercion of any kind—not on us, not on each other." Her blue-grey eyes never left Jeane's face as she continued, "You get our help with your quest, we get... whatever it is you're offering. But everything stays consensual and above board."
Silra nodded sharply in agreement with Halie's words. "Exactly," she said, voice cold and businesslike. "We're not toys for you to play with—we're professionals here to do a job." She moved closer to the bed, stopping just out of arm's reach from Jeane as she continued, "If you can agree to those terms, fine. We'll help you with your quest, and you can show us whatever... skills... you've got." There was a clear note of challenge in her voice as she finished, "But the moment you try anything funny, the deal is off—and I promise you won't like what happens next."
Jeane's expression cycled through several emotions—frustration, calculation, and something that might have been grudging respect—before settling into a mask of carefully controlled patience. She stood slowly, wings half-spread in a gesture that seemed almost involuntary before folding neatly behind her. "Very well," she said after a moment, voice tight with barely suppressed annoyance. "I accept your terms—consensual participation only, no magical coercion of any kind." Her crimson eyes fixed on each woman in turn as she continued, "But understand this: I didn't become what I am by playing nice with mortals who think they can dictate terms to a succubus."
She moved towards the door, pausing with her hand on the handle to look back at them. "I'll give you both some time to... consider your options," she said, voice dripping with saccharine insincerity. "Think carefully about whether this is really how you want to proceed—because once we start down this path, there's no going back." With that ominous parting shot, she slipped out the door, leaving Halie and Silra alone in the suddenly too-quiet room.
Silra let out a long breath as the door closed behind Jeane, shoulders slumping slightly as the tension bled out of her muscles. "Well," she said after a moment, voice dry with barely contained disbelief, "that certainly wasn't what I was expecting when we agreed to help a succubus with her quest." She moved to set the toy down on a nearby table before turning back to Halie, teal eyes serious as she asked, "You okay? That spell she tried to cast on you—are you sure it didn't do any lasting damage?"
Halie lowered her mace completely now that Jeane was gone, though she still looked shaken. "I'm... yes, I think so," she said slowly, running a hand through her brown hair as she tried to process what had just happened. "It felt like something was trying to force its way into my mind, but when you broke the contact..." She trailed off, shuddering slightly at the memory. "It was like being dunked in ice water—everything just... stopped."
Silra nodded sympathetically, moving closer to clap Halie on the shoulder. "Good reflexes," she said approvingly. "If you hadn't been paying attention, that could've gone a lot worse." Her expression turned more serious as she continued, "We need to be careful with this one—Jeane may look like just another horny demon, but there's something... off about her." She met Halie's eyes steadily before adding in a low voice, "I've dealt with plenty of succubi before, but I've never felt one try to push that hard that fast. Whatever she's after, it's more than just a good time."
Halie leaned against the wall, suddenly looking very tired. "You think there's something else going on?" she asked wearily. "Something beyond the quest?"
Silra began pacing slowly as she worked through her thoughts aloud. "I do," she said grimly. "Demons don't usually put this much effort into seducing mortals—not unless there's a specific reason they need our cooperation." She paused by the window, staring out at the New York skyline without really seeing it. "And the way she reacted when we called her out on it—that wasn't just frustration at being caught. There was something else there... fear? Or maybe desperation?"
Halie watched Silra pace for a moment before speaking up. "You think she's in trouble?" she asked, curiosity warring with lingering suspicion. "Why would a succubus need our help with anything?"
Silra turned back to face Halie, expression thoughtful. "That's the million-dollar question," she admitted. "But think about it—she came to us, not the other way around. She specifically sought out a group with certain... skills." Her teal eyes gleamed with barely contained excitement as she continued, "What if whatever she's mixed up in requires more than just demonic power to solve? What if she needs our unique abilities for something only mortals can handle?"
Halie straightened slightly, interest overcoming her fatigue. "That would explain a lot," she mused. "The desperation, the willingness to negotiate instead of just overpowering us..." She trailed off, lost in thought before snapping back to attention. "But if that's true, we need to be even more careful—whatever she's involved in could be dangerous as hell."
Silra nodded grimly. "Agreed," she said. "We play along for now—gather information, see what her real angle is—but we don't let our guards down for a second." She moved back to the bed, picking up one of the discarded toys with a considering look before setting it back down again. "And we definitely need to have a serious talk about boundaries—and exactly what kind of 'services' we're willing to provide in this... arrangement."
Halie's expression turned both amused and exasperated at that. "Well," she said dryly, "at least we won't be bored." She moved to sit on the edge of the bed, mace propped beside her as she looked at Silra with a mix of concern and resignation. "So—what now? Do we wait for her to come back, or try to find out more about what she's really after?"
Silra settled onto the opposite side of the bed, careful to maintain distance between them. "We wait—for now," she said reluctantly. "But we use the time to prepare—ward ourselves against magic, gather intel if we can, and most importantly..." She met Halie's eyes steadily before finishing, "...we decide exactly what we're each willing to do physically if this does turn into the kind of arrangement Jeane was implying."
Halie sighed heavily, running a hand through her hair again. "Great," she muttered. "So not only do we have to navigate whatever scheme she's really up to, we also have to figure out our own comfort levels with demonic debauchery." She looked at Silra with a mix of resignation and dark amusement. "Well—at least we'll have plenty of material for the next few therapy sessions."
Silra couldn't help but chuckle at that, some of the tension easing from her shoulders. "Yeah," she agreed dryly. "Between this and our last adventure, I think we're definitely due for some professional help." She settled back against the headboard, getting comfortable as she prepared for what could be a long wait. "So—want to start with a list of things we absolutely will not do, or should we just wing it and see how far Jeane pushes before we draw the line?"
Halie groaned dramatically at that suggestion. "Let's make the list," she said firmly. "Because if we wing it, I have a feeling we'll end up doing things we regret before we even realize what's happening." She met Silra's eyes with a mix of determination and resignation. "Besides—if we're going to navigate this mess, we might as well do it with our eyes open and our boundaries clearly defined."
Silra nodded approvingly at Halie's pragmatism. "Agreed," she said. "All right then—let's start with the basics. No mind control of any kind—that goes for both us and Jeane." She ticked off points on her fingers as she continued, "No permanent magical effects or curses, no soul binding or contracts that could come back to bite us later..." Her expression turned serious as she added, "And absolutely no involving innocent bystanders or civilians in whatever this is."
Halie nodded along with each point, adding her own thoughts. "I'm with you on all of that," she said firmly. "But we need to be specific—what about temporary magical effects? Like... pleasure enhancers or minor charms?" She looked uncomfortable even asking the question but pressed on anyway. "And what about involving other consenting adults? If it's part of her quest, do we really want to limit ourselves that way?"
Silra considered those questions carefully before responding. "Temporary magic is... complicated," she admitted reluctantly. "On one hand, it could be useful for the job—on the other, it opens us up to potential manipulation." She steepled her fingers thoughtfully as she continued, "I say we allow it on a case-by-case basis, with strict limits and constant monitoring. As for involving others..." Her teal eyes gleamed with barely contained excitement as she finished, "...that depends on who those 'others' are. If it's part of the quest and they're fully informed consenting adults? Maybe. But we need to vet them thoroughly first—no walking into situations blind."
Halie nodded slowly, processing Silra's words. "Okay," she said after a moment. "I can live with that—strict limits on temporary magic, careful vetting of any additional participants." She shifted her position on the bed, getting more comfortable as they delved deeper into the conversation. "But we need to be clear about one thing—if at any point this stops feeling consensual or safe, we pull out immediately. No questions asked, no guilt trips allowed."
Silra's expression turned serious as she met Halie's eyes. "Agreed," she said firmly. "The moment something feels off—or the moment Jeane starts pushing boundaries we've set—the deal is off." She extended her hand across the space between them. "Shake on it? Partnership agreement—we look out for each other, no matter what."
Halie took Silra's hand without hesitation, giving it a firm shake. "Deal," she said solemnly. "Partners in this mess—and hopefully still friends when it's all over." She released Silra's hand with a small smile, some of the tension easing from her shoulders now that they had at least tentative ground rules in place.
Silra returned the smile, feeling more relaxed than she had since Jeane first propositioned them. "Friends," she agreed. "Even if we have to navigate demonic debauchery to stay that way." She settled back against the headboard again, getting comfortable as she prepared for what could be a long wait. "Now—want to go over some basic contingency plans? Just in case things go sideways faster than we expect?"
Halie nodded, reaching for her mace and checking it over out of habit before setting it within easy reach beside the bed. "Contingency planning sounds like an excellent use of our time," she said dryly. "Because god knows we could use more of that in our lives lately." She met Silra's eyes with a mix of resignation and determination. "All right then—let's figure out how to survive whatever hell Jeane has in store for us..."
