Round 1 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

At Penthouse suite in a New York high rise, the pressure shifts from waiting to immediate risk. The ward answers the party's presence with a fresh pulse through the stone and no one can mistake it for safety. Someone has to answer that change now.
The ward's pulse sends a shudder through me—a demon feels magic like blood in her veins—and I know immediately that we've been answered by something ancient and hungry. It's not friendly, this ward; it's territorial. "Hera," I say, turning to face the human woman who seems lost in the luxury of this place, "perhaps you'd care for a tour of the amenities? The bedroom has a view that might help put things into perspective." My smile is polite, but my eyes are already tracing the line of her neck where it meets shoulder, imagining the taste of fear mixed with desire. I don't wait for an answer. I glide toward the bedroom, my wings stirring just enough to create a current of cool air that carries the scent of brimstone and something sweet—my own personal perfume, designed to make humans weak-kneed. The others will follow. They always do. Behind me, Silra is already moving with that predatory grace of hers, no doubt eager to find new ways to test her skills on flesh instead of locks. Halie the Cleric will hesitate—she always does—but only for a moment before her curiosity and her faith in our 'adventure' override any sense of propriety. And then we'll see what this ward is truly made of.
I watch the ward pulse again and feel my usual disdain for magical theater. "So the stone likes company now? How charming." I move toward Jeane without taking my eyes off the door. "Keep Hera entertained, will you? We might need to leave quickly if this welcome party gets less friendly." My fingers brush against a hidden sheath as I walk—just a reminder that sometimes talk is cheap and knives aren't. I glance at Halie next, noting her cleric's readiness without commenting on it. "You look like you're about to bless something. Save it for the afterglow, yes?" Dry humor, sharp observation—that's my brand of defiance in a room full of unknown magic and pulsing stones that answer doors with ill intent.
I feel my skin crawl at that pulse through the stone—as if this place is alive and hungry. We should move carefully, stay together. Jeane's ideas are tempting, but we don't know what watches us here. I gather the items from the chest—these strange tools—and check for any aura of corruption or blessing. The dildo feels innocent enough in my hands, the leather bindings just leather, but I sense an old magic clinging to them, faint and unsettling like perfume in a tomb.
I watch the women exchange glances, noting the tension and excitement in the air. As they move to prepare for whatever comes next, I find myself drawn to Halie. Her gentle demeanor and caring nature are a stark contrast to the raw energy of the others. "Halie," I say softly, moving closer to her. "Is there anything I can do to help? I may not have your skills, but I want to contribute in some way."
I reach out tentatively, placing a hand on her arm. The contact is light, respectful, but it allows me to feel the strength beneath her soft exterior. I wonder if she feels the same attraction I do, or if my own desires are clouding my perception. As Halie turns to face me, I find myself lost in her eyes for a moment. The depth of emotion there is overwhelming, and I have to remind myself to breathe. Whatever happens next, I know that having Halie by my side will make all the difference.
I stand near Hera, my heart pounding in my chest as I watch Jeane lead Hera into the bedroom. A part of me wants to follow them, to see what they're doing, but another part of me is too nervous. I turn to Halie, who seems focused on checking the items she gathered from the chest. "What are you looking for?" I ask softly, trying to sound brave even though my voice comes out as a strained whisper.
My eyes dart back to the closed bedroom door, then to Silra who is standing nearby. She looks so confident, so ready for whatever might happen next. I feel a pang of jealousy mixed with admiration. "Do you think they're okay in there?" I ask, my voice dropping even lower as I lean closer to Halie, hoping she'll have some reassurance for me.
